Default Amenity fee

Has anyone else noticed that the amenity fee went up? When we got our water bill there was a small charge which stated that the amenity fee was increased based on the consumer price index; it was stated that the amenity fee is subject to an annual increase. I was not aware of this.

Yes, it is based on the CPI. Mine has gone up $1.86 over the last 2 years. Pretty small increase.

Very tiny increases happen every year.

We purchased in November of 2012. Our amenity fee was $145. It has gone up several times and is now $150.79. Granted it is money well spent. However it just doesn't seem quite fair that the current fee for people purchasing today is still $145. We'll always be paying more for the same benefits. BTW - my neighbor who purchased a few months before we did told me they started with a monthly fee of $138 and has increased but still pay less than what we pay. I wonder if anyone pays more than $150.79 which I'm sure is about to increase again.

Look on your driveway for the POA bulletin, this month covers the Amenity Fee.

Thanks Bogie. I do know all amenity fees are not the same but unsure for the reason. Some original owners never had an increase as long as they owned the property. Good deal for them.

Yes, it is based on the CPI, but is a small percentage. In 2009, ours actually went down because the CPI went down. Ours changes each September, based on the month we bought. It seems to be a very fair system and we definitely get a lot for our money.

Looks like there is a copy of the POA Bulletin available at the POA website.

I'm just glad that the amenities doesn't go up anywhere near the increases or car, home owners and medical insurance does every year. To offset the increase simply play a couple of extra rounds of golf, jump into a pool more often, enjoy some music at the squares or take advantage of the other many things offered it The Villages.

One night of free music in the square each month should cover that increase.

I think I once read that some were grandfathered in at some point, I think on the historic side.

Good information. Is there a place to go to find out a break down on how these funds are distributed.
