When you find a city in the USA that has a few hundred thousand people living there and a few hundred thousand outside influencers that has no violence, let us all know. Been looking for perfectionism a long time.

Except i read the other forbidden other online news source.

Not a word here about a 75 year old punching n 85 year old in the jaw at Glenview CC becuse he thought he hit his lexus.

Poor 85 yer old is dead from a brain bleed.

You wont find these stories in the Sun. No one talks about the violence here.

Lets all drink the kool aid

I doubt if you even live here.

I do not minimize the sadness and horror of such violence. But it’s not a COMMONPLACE reality of life in the VILLAGES.

145, 000 give or take people do live here. I have lived in The Villages for almost 2 years and have never witnessed or been part of a crime. The Villages is the size of Manhattan! I feel safe. A few exceptions, but all in all, the Kool aid feels pretty good.

If you have so much negative to say, live somewhere else.

We are on 3rd house. Not close to any square by choice. Villages of Woodbury, Pennecamp and finally Sanibel. Quiet area beautiful cul de sac.

What part of the Villages do you live in? Asking, because I am looking to sell my CYV and move to a quieter neighborhood. Whether you believe it or not, arguing, rudeness, fighting, and loud mouths is prevalent where I live. And, I have seen my fair share of crime. I live by one of the squares. Once darkness hits, it's game on around here!

When I bought close to a square I was expecting the noise and traffic. I liked the convenience. Should have realized the squares bring party-mode people. And, with that, lots of trouble. My fault! Never going to live near a square again. Cul de sac is a good idea. Thanks.

So sad. Prayers for the victim, condolences to the family. As far as the defendant, none of us know all the details but I think the fact that he ran from the scene, doesn't bode well.

And this does happen everywhere, and it's not just confined to men.

For this man to punch another over a car accident, I have to believe he has been a bully his entire life.

Yeah I thought of that, but those are two demographics that "some people" complain about as offensive to their "family values."

I'm a good example of why it doesn't matter: I'm educated. College degree, multiple certifications in a myriad of subjects from bartending to aromatherapy to computer coding. What did I do with all my education? I mostly did retail, customer service and cashiering. Most of it was non-management. Remember, narrow-minded folks: the person you're criticizing for being stupid at the check-out counter, because they needed to check with their manager to approve an unusual return - might be more educated than you are. They WILL laugh at you after you've left the store.

The man charged is assumed to be innocent until proven guilty that’s our legal system. If the day comes he is found guilty I hope he is punished to the fullest extent of the law, he destroyed the life of an innocent victim and his family due to his irresponsible actions

There sure is, but not everyone thinks about that option I guess.

You don’t now who lives next to yow. They may tell you that they work/volunteered for the Peace Corp or or retired from the law enforcement or military, when in fact, before moving here he/she was just released fron an State or Federal penitentiary for a violent crime. Add to this, we are getting old, and we don’t know their mental health. Anywhere that you have people, you are going to find violence, fact of life. The Villages is not exempt from the reality of living within humans.

This story is a tragedy. Two families destroyed. Sounds like it could be another example of how too much alcohol could cause people to do something disastrous.

It's confusing to me why we use these tragedies to criticize TV and the Daily Sun. Florida's friendliest home town is a marketing tag line, not a force field. And there are many news sources available. In both cases (living in TV, and selecting a news source) you have choices. Do your research. Inform yourself. And choose for yourself. And don't worry about and criticize the choices other people make.

The situation that started this thread is a tragedy. Prayers for those involved.
