We like our house a lot, but are considering some changes to our living area, possibly even changing our TV-watching room to be away from the main living room. Currently we have a couch that creates a short corridor when entering the front door and it faces the opposite wall where the TV is. We'd like to get away from that arrangement to gain a little more space in the living area (doing away with that walkway behind the couch.

Any Bougainvillea folks out there who have any suggestions?

We had the same problem with the sofa position creating a "hallway" and reducing the size of the living room. We recently swapped the location of the TV to be on the wall by the door. If you have an off-set layout, this is easy. We didn't. So we had to purchase a new, smaller "media" cabinet for the cable box, blu-ray, etc. We now have a 55-inch TV mounted to that wall with the cabinet below. We've got about 5-6 inches between the door to the guest bedrooms and the TV and the fully open front door and the TV. If you have a smaller TV, obviously you'll have more room than that. It's amazing how much bigger the room looks and feels! My husband wasn't too keen on the idea when I first brought it up, but now that it's done, he really likes it as well. Besides the expense of the new cabinet, we had to have cabling dropped into the wall by the door and had recessed outlets installed both behind the TV and behind the cabinet. We're both very happy with the finished result.

We pushed the living room out eight feet and added a golf cart garage. Lots of room now. Call Advanced construction, they do this all the time.

My Bougainvillea has a "florida room" next to lanai and it's perfect for second couch and TV etc., but then mine is expanded everywhere

How far out is your Florida Room expansion? Would you mind giving the dimensions of the room?

Recently had Demetri Remodeling do a wonderful addition to our Bougainvillea - it changed the entire look and feel of the house - much more open and roomy. Enclosed and expanded lanai into "great room" with lots of windows and volume ceiling. Took out entire DR wall. Former kitchen window is large pass through to great room. Former DR is sitting area and former LR is now DR. You're welcome to see pictures or the renovation itself.
