Default questions for you all...

Was having a conversation today and we got to wondering why there are two Spruce Creeks. Are they both Dell Webb's?? It was confusing to us when we first came to live here and those were mentioned...then there is Stone Crest added to the mix. Curious on why they all have the same or similar names.

Folks generally will use them as "points" to follow for directions to certain places and that's really where the confusion comes in.

I believe the two Del Webb communities in the area are Spruce Creek (Summerfield) and Stone Creek (Ocala). Stone Crest isn't a Del Webb community. Agree that it is confusing though.

Yes, there are two Spruce Creeks. There is Spruce Creek South (just north of The Villages, in the Oakland Hills area) which is older and much like TV's "historic" section - manufactured homes. About 2 miles north of that is Spruce Creek Country Club. Very nice homes. Del Webb has numerous developments throughout the U.S.

The Spruce Creek South was originally developed by someone other than Webb. They went broke and Webb bought it out and continued to develop and manage it. It was built out in the mid 90s. Not all the homes are manufactured, and they have lots of villas. I play their golf course often and it is a pleasant development and a nice course.

I don't think Webb owns Spruce Creek South unless it was a very recent transaction - I personally know one of the owners from north of here.

To Follow up on eweissenbach's post:

Spruce Creek South which borders TV’s north side, west of 441 was developed by Harvey “Sonny” Erp, in the late 1980’s and was completed in 1995. Erp also owned property farther north which was designated Spruce Creek North which saw only modest development through the 1990’s.

In 1998, Dell Web purchased the Spruce Creek North property and the name was changed to Del Web Spruce Creek to distinguish itself from the unaffiliated Spruce Creek South.

Note that Stonecrest which is on the eastern side of 441 across from Spruce creek south and borders TV’s historic section is spelled as a single word. It is being developed by Hall Robertson and is not affiliated with any of the others.

That's correct. I've used to live up that way - it's actually called "Spruce Creek Preserve" Only resales available there but down the road is Stone Creek, also a Dell Webb community. (That's where I used to live.) It's relatively new with construction starting in 2006. I think they have approximately 950 homes right now and paln to have 4500 homes when completed.
