Default Any covered pools?

My wife and I recently bought a house in The Villages and plan on moving there when we retire in a couple of years. Before buying, we researched many retirement communities and visited several others. One thing that impressed us at a couple of other communities was that the pool (and yes, most had only one pool) was partially covered. This allowed those of us who haven't developed Florida tans yet to keep from being roasted alive (especially me with my paler-than-pale, too-many-years-in-the-office, bleached, Scandahoovian* skin). We've only really looked at a couple of the many, many pools in The Villages but didn't happen to see any with any kind of cover, whether a roof or a "sail" or whatever. Are any of the pools in The Villages covered?

* Yes, Scandahoovian. My ancestors were scattered all over northern Europe, none from any place were people ever got much of a tan or maybe even ever heard of a tan.

No covered pools in TV. All pools are topless.

We have installed a cantilever umbrella that covers one end of our pool and provides some nice shade cover during the mid day sun. Got it at Lowes, around 200 bucks.

With all the hoopla about skin cancer for the last decade or more, this rather surprises me. Oh well, I'll just have to swim my laps with a sun-blocking t-shirt and swim cap.

Agree you can get sunburn real quick in the pool.

I'll have to wear a t-shirt too! I burn quickly and sometimes blister! It doesn't take long!

They sell long sleeved swim shirts. A lot of pool exercisers wear them.

Here are some;

Swim Shirts, Sun Shirts, Sun Protection Clothing, UV Swimwear & More!

Swimming those laps before or after the periods of the sun's intensity might be of benefit, too.

And you might want to look into the newest To Your Health Spa & Fitness business opening soon on Rt441/27 in Lady Lake http://tooyourhealthspa.yolasite.com/ They participate in Silver Sneakers and Silver & Fit Experience programs- so much more than just laps - and a variety of memberships, too.

Kahuna, I wasn't serious about inviting myself to your pool. I was just spoofing around. I'm up north for the summer anyway.
But your pool and large umbrella sound very inviting, and a wonderful solution for those who are fortunate enough to have a private pool!

Get a few of the sunscreen pullover shirts. I have four. Rub in sunscreen & wear a large hat. I was born & raised in Miami. Have had many skin cancers removed. Been lucky so far. Oh...also pull my chair into the shady areas of the pool when I'm not in the water.
