Default Evans Prairie Championship Golf Course now under construction.

I was at the new Bonifay golf club shop today and asked about the earth moving activity along Buena Vista Blvd just west of Bonifay. The fellow behind the counter told me it is the next and 11th country club in The Villages which will be named Evans Prairie Golf and Country Club. He said that it is to open late 2012 or early 2013.

Evans Prairie Country Club, will be on Evans Prairie Trail, adjacent to Buena Vista Blvd., south of CR 466A, about half way to CR 44A. The club house and club will be east of Buena Vista Blvd.

If you have not been down there they are pushing dirt 7 days a week and it is going fast.

Also I see some walls are up at Brownwood so they are moving along on it as well.

Not doubting for a minute what you heard.
If Evans Prairie is just west of Bonifay that would be really close for two championship courses. I would have thought #11 would be closer to Brownwood. Somebody on here must have a map of where the courses are going south of 466A

The 11th championship course in that location would be useful by not just new people moving into homes south of 466-A, but by the newest homeowners south of Cane Garden and west of Buena Vista, i.e. Buttonwood, Tamarind Grove, etc.

I have 2 maps and that is where Evans Prairie is shown on both. I will see if I can find one of them on line. The last championship course will be in the southeast corner of The Villages east of Morse Blvd and north of 44A or at least as shown on both maps that I have. Perhaps someone else has access to these maps. One of them was posted on talk of The Villages a while back.

This version of the map shows the course layouts but doesn't show the course names.

However............I saved a version of this map to my pc earlier this year and that one DOES show the course names. Zoom waaaaay in on the map noted in the link above and hopefully the following info will help you with the names of the various courses:

- The 3 courses of Evans Prairie are to the west of Bonifay's Destin course
.....Killdeer abuts Bonifay Destin - goes west over to Buena Vista Blvd.
.....Osprey - course is west of Buena Vista Blvd.
.....Egret - course is east of Buena Vista starting at the 2nd roundabout

Other courses:
- The 3 courses of Big Cypress
.....Palmetto - abuts Evans Prairie Osprey and is west of it
.....Sweetgum - to the southwest
.....Mangrove - to the southeast

- The 3 courses of The Colony are on the SE corner of 466A and Morse Blvd.
.....Sarasota - -
.....Escanaba - - - - all 3 of these courses are clustered in that SE corner area
.....Volusia - -

- The 3 courses of Belle Glade are further south down Morse Blvd. and to the east
.....Seminole
.....Tequesta
.....Calusa

This info is from the map I saved that's dated Sept. 2010. The developer's plans could have changed since then.

Hope that's of some help!

Bill

The following link is from the county web site and as such is a public record. Go to around page 18 to see maps of the new sections. Not a lot of detail, but does show major roads as well as golf course locations. It takes some fooling around to read this map on page 18. The Country Clubs are marked in light green and say G-CC on them.
