Default Outside Faucets May Freeze Tonight

The radio is saying that outside faucets may freeze tonight ... that they should be covered or left to drip.

I think I can definitely say goodbye to my hibiscus. I am tired of covering it and will replace it with something more tolerant.

Arrow Thanks for the tip!

Good to know Ms. Foot! Don't say good-bye to your hibiscus. Tanya, my plant guru said all will come back in the Spring. However, vetman seems way to lazy to go outside and do anything with the faucets, so I smell broken pipes! I'm laying in wait with an "I told you so."

The dripping faucet is serious in FL. The water pipes in FL are not buried as deep or as insulated as they are up north. The building codes are different due to the climate, which is why plastic pipe is so common.

Running water doesn't freeze, so setting the outside faucets to a steady drip during below-32degrees time is a safety item. If the water freezes in the pipe, it can due to ice expansion cause the pipe to rupture.

Take care...

My wonderful neighbor just covered all the outside faucets with towels and tape and we turned on the hot tub spa. I'm freezing to death. Wonder when the next flight is to LA???????
