Volunteers Needed in
MARION, CITRUS & HERNANDO COUNTIES

The Florida Department of Elder Affairs invites you to join the award-winning SHINE Program team of Volunteers. The SHINE Program helps elders and the disabled make informed decisions about Medicare and health insurance.

SHINE Volunteers provide free, unbiased individual counseling to elders, the disabled, and their caregivers about Medicare, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, discounted or free drug programs, and related health insurance. Volunteers may also make educational presentations to community groups or participate in local health fairs or senior outreach events.

If you would like more information about this exciting opportunity, please call Elder Helpline 1-800-963-5337. Ask for a SHINE Volunteer Training Application Packet. Comprehensive training is provided with meals and travel related expenses reimbursed. The next scheduled Orientation Training class is January 27, 2011 from 9:30 am – 4 pm. Pre-registration is required.

Consider joining SHINE and help to improve the lives of Florida’s elders. You will find this unique volunteer position very stimulating and rewarding. Basic computer skills required; bilingual persons are encouraged to apply.

SHINE’s mission is to provide free and unbiased health insurance counseling through a dedicated network of volunteers, empowering Florida Seniors to make informed
healthcare choices.

Default Getting help with medicare choices...

I may have to enroll in MEDICARE PART B this enrollment period--and need some help in having it explained to me. I know that there is a SHINE organization out there--can someone give me a contact number to someone in The Villages? (I am boycotting the local rag paper ---a boycott of ONE, I'm afraid)....so, that leaves me w/o THIS information.
Thanks,
Lynn
