I was a DirecTV subscriber for 20 years. There is a conduit that brings outside wiring into your garage for the low voltage box - just have them run it there. I moved on from DirecTV 3 years ago - the prices were too high, picture quality is poor compared to the newer streaming services when viewed on a large 4K TV, and the number of rain-outs here in Florida are ridiculous. The ability to move to a low def picture is absurd - picture quality is even worse, and even that gets rained out. I got tired of recording a sporting event, then seeing the picture go while watching it. I moved to streaming, saved over $100/month, and have never looked back.

If you look at streaming, read the reviews, look at the pricing and features. DirecTV streaming is a poor choice when compared to either YouTube TV or Hulu Live. Less channels, higher cost, and poor DVR. YouTubeTV has the best DVR by far for any of the streaming offerings.

Hulu Live has a very limited amount of DVR included (20 hours), and you can't skip commercials unless you pay another $10/month. Even then, you can't skip until the event is completely recorded. YouTubeTV is unlimited, and works as expected. If you're a T-Mobile customer, you can save $10/month off of the $64.99 price.

I have Youtube Tv and get all those. I'm a fan of fox, so that was important to me.

I've been with DirecTV since 1996 here in Indiana and we've been pretty happy with it. So I would like to stay with them and switch to their streaming. But you're right, Youtube is a better deal. After researching thats who we'll go with.

For now we just have DirecTV sat down there since we don't retire until the end of the year, and we don't have internet there. We only come down a week at a time as we take vacation. So we just activate our account as needed.

That’s why we all have choices ,but as far as low resolution goes I have mistakenly taped a show on the low resolution and it takes me awhile to realize that I’m watching it in lower resolution because the picture while clear makes everyone a little wider , anyway there have been very few times that I’ve actually lost viewing and not for very long , if it’s that important a show I’ll go to demand and watch it ,besides I never turn the TV on before 7 pm except for football , I’m sure all those services are fun , but all I need is NFL ticket , Turner Classic Movies , my 2 Public Broadcast stations and ESPN and Network stations

Just to clarify, Youtube tv does not have a physical DVR. In order to record a show, movie, or sports event, you have to add it to your personal library, where it is stored on their servers for nine months, at which time they expire and are deleted. The only downside I found is you cannot add one particular episode on the fly from a series. You have to add the series, at which point Youtube tv will record all episodes. Not really a big deal though, as the storage is unlimited, as mentioned above. However, you can remove a series from your library in which case additional episodes will not be recorded. Other than that, I agree Youtube tv has the best system. You can also access regular Youtube from their app, and access your Youtube account if you have one.

So you explain your comments about OANs "well if that’s true, it’s just another thing I like about my direct TV?
It's just that OANs fans can read between the lines where some can't...

Firestick streaming service has live tv, over 3,000 channels, all local, NFL. MLB, NHL NBA MLB and so much more.
Here are some things that will speed things up.
1. Do you own your own router and is it compatible with your internet company? I recommend you purchase your own router instead of renting from cable company for $12-15/mth.. The netgear c7000 v2 works very well with xfinity. I keep 1 in stock ($169.00)
2. Do you have a 4-K firestick, You will need a firestick for each TV you want hooked up. I keep 3 in stock ($40.00 plus install fee.)
3. You will need passwords for the following; Amazon account, your cable provider, your own internet network
4. Make sure your tv has a HDMI input. (most do since 2004). Any questions please let me know.
thanks so much.

I'm not sure how local you are looking for, but there is a Fox affiliate channel (Fox35) on YoutubeTV , which broadcasts local news for central Florida out of Orlando. In addition there is a free app called NewsON, which will give you access to a number of local news channels throughout Florida including Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando and a number of others. You can add that app to your dashboard using the Firestick. This is what my Firestick dashboard looks like, which is fully customizable. I can access YoutubeTV, NewsON, HSN, History Channel and Prime Video by just choosing the icon using my remote. You'll have to excuse me the clarity of the photo. My hands aren't as steady as they once were.

You CAN get NFL live and the NFL RedZone with YoutubeTV. The NFL RedZone is part of an optional sports package called Sports Plus which is $11 per month, but not to be confused with NFL Sunday Ticket.
