Default Anyone know what just happened?

We lost electrical power, then two fire engines went by, then an ambulance and just a bit ago, two SECO trucks, and just now, a Sheriff's car, siren going full blast.

If you know, please share....I've got to reset all my clocks and my color changing nightlights.

Sure hope no one is hurt or if they were, not badly.

Please let us know. That sounds bad. I hope that critter that is taking down those downspouts in your neighborhood isn't into biting electrical lines OR people.

Stay inside Pooh. We love you.

Mike had made homemade mac and cheese for dinner and was just about to pop it into the oven when the power went out. Turned on the outdoor grill and used it as an oven....did a great job and the mac and cheese was cooked to perfection.

Power was out about 40 minutes, but it was all the activity that concerned me. Generally you don't have two fire engines, an ambulance and the Sheriff all within a short time racing up and down Morse Blvd. Power was even out in Lake Sumter Landing Town Square. I can hear music now so things were just delayed for a bit for Octoberfest.

As Mike and I were dining on the lanai, one of our resident squirrels was out there.... I wonder just what part that little beastie played in all of this...

You didn't suffer a power loss in your area, Gracie?

There was an accident on El Camino Real in front of the hospital around 3:30 this PM. when we went by around 4:30 they were loading a car on a recovery vehicle and there was one badly damaged on the median. Looked like it had hit some sort of an electric box.

Power crews were on the scene as well as fire engines. That may explain the outage.

That's a lot of homes. A number of us here on my street in Caroline had their garage screen doors down. They're electric and there was no way to bring them up. Couldn't get the car or cart out...well, if we had to we could have just gone through the screen...yikes!

Maybe, but I'm on the other side of 466 near LSLanding and the fire trucks and ambulance were heading down Morse towards 466A. Actually, I have no clue where they went, but they were heading in that direction.
There was a SECO truck that pulled off the road onto the grass near the cart path on Morse, near the golf course. I saw two SECO people get back into their truck and head back on Morse in the direction of 466. Another SECO truck went in that direction just before they did. This all happened around 5:10 or so, a few minutes before or after. Power was out for about 40 minutes. I felt badly for businesses in town, they were without power for a while.

We are fine here Pooh.

Sad to hear about the accident near the hospital, but seems like the commotion was in another direction. We are getting so big here.

This morning I was going to post office and headed west on 466 and made a right turn on 301. There sat a car heading the wrong way at stop light. Good thing I was paying attention or I would have run into him. He failed to see that it was a divided highway when he pulled out of the fruit stand at 466 and 301.

My guardian angel sits in the corner and pants at the end of a day.

Pooh, this is interesting. Around 5:10 the machinery at the maintenance shop at the golf course (#2 hole of Virginia) turned on. Now I've never heard this machinery except on Friday mornings between 10 and 11. This is the first time I've ever heard it in the evening, so I was very surprised and I looked at my watch and wondered why it was on at this hour? The power came back on shortly after the machinery stopped. Coincidence?

Pooh,
I'm glad your power is back on! Will be interested to find out what happened, so someone please let us know when you find out. It'll probably be in the Daily Fun, but I'm not there.

On another note, I know TV continues to grow and seasonal residents are starting to arrive. More accidents I understand. Confusion at the roundabouts I understand. But I don't understand why so many reports of people seeing cars on the wrong side of the road. Who does that? Why does that happen?

p.s., Mac and cheese.

Interesting, indeed! Wonder what the heck happened....and if that machinery had anything to do with the power outage. Maybe the fire engines were sent because of a fire or the possibility of fire? Then the ambulance? I'm not sure what happened, but if no one was hurt, that's good. Power was back up and running fairly quickly.

Thanks for the info UU...

I had been in Spanish Springs for the parade and about 5:30 decided to head back to Lake Sumpter Landing to see what festivities were going on there for Oktoberfest. First thing I noticed was that the stop lights were out as I got into the area around LSL. Thought that strange but didn't think too much of it. Then as I was parking behind TooJay's I saw a lot of people leaving and more walking to their cars or carts saying they were headed up to Spanish Springs. The stores at LSL were all closed and had signs in their windows that they closed becasue of power outage. Several managers and/or clerks where out on the sidewalk talking on cell phones I think trying to go ahead and just leave. Most of the Oktoberfest vendors were still operational because they had generators. The food vendors were very busy since most area restaurants had closed or were only serving drinks no food. After about 30 minutes the power came back on and many stores had reopened by the time I left at 7. It was a wonderful evening to be outside. I had great fun at both Spanish Springs and LSL.

Your guardian angel is a wonderful angel, Gracie and I'm so glad he/she is doing his/her job so very well. Thank you dear angel for keeping Gracie safe. Maybe when you finally sleep each night, so does your daytime angel...at that point, he/she really needs to rest, you've worn out the angel's wings! Night shift guardian has a much easier job..... you're still and in one spot!....

WHEW! Glad you're safe! You're giving that angel one heck of a workout!
