Question What does FIRPTA mean in a real estate listing?

I hope someone will tell me what FIRPTA means.

I see FIRPTA at the very bottom of the list of features in some of TV's real estate listings. But it is not on every one of them. Just every once in a while.

It is probably something really obvious and you will hear me smack myself on the forehead and say, "Duh," when I get the answer.

I cannot figure it out and I cannot stand it anymore and I am starting to make up really obnoxious answers to my own question.

Please tell me what FIRPTA means?

Thank you.

Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act - a requirement to withhold taxes when the seller is a foreign national. Funds - 10% - withheld and sent to the IRS.

Default Duh for me!

Whatintheheckisthematterwithme????

I don't know why I did not look it up. I know how to look things up. Really. I do.

And as soon as I sent the question to post, it occurred to me to just google it or bing it and so I did.

Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act

I'm sorry. Every once in a while, I skip a step and this was one of them. And it is getting kind of close to midnight when I get way too sleepy and have no business typing anything at all. (Oh well. It coulda been worse I guess.)

But posting the answer to my own question immediately after I ask it is a little embarrassing. Geez.....I feel like a Foolish, Irritating, Reoccurring Pain in The A#*.

Goodnight.

Hi BogeyBoy. Hi Whalen.

Geez. I did not see your answers before I sent my answer and now here I am quoting my own posts. Geez. Geez. Geez. Sometimes I wish TH would just have mercy on me and throw me out.

Anyway, thank you for answering. I did not see your posts before I sent mine. I was way too busy talking to myself. But thank you.

Goodnight, again.

Stuart Jim,

I think you are right.

And I like Gracie's theory.

(I am pretending that I do not see what Mr. Tony said. -- And I also try not to look at that ugly hat he is wearing and refuses to take off, even in the presence of all us ladies here on TOTV.)
