Default Shades on birdcage

I know many people have the motorized shades on tracks outside their lanai but I have a question for those who have done them outside a birdcage. We need to have the tension wires moved to the inside of the cage and were told by T&D that they wouldn't do it because it would negate the engineering. If you have motorized shades outside your birdcage how did you handle this situation?

Is there anybody out there who has even installed motorized shades on their birdcage?

I would go with T&D, if your tension wires are like ours, these are anchored with screws perpendicular to the metal end of the tension wire, it would be impossible to duplicate this type of connection inside the birdcage. My question is why not just mount the shades inside the birdcage. If you are concerned with the shades blowing around, ask the installer about the use of guide wires.

How would the guide wires work? Is it similar to a track system?

Shades would have a set of hook eyes on the bottom rung and the guide wires would attach at the top and bottom and go through the hook eyes, the other alternative would be just to have the guide wires inside of the ends of the shades, parallel to the birdcage, and anchored top and bottom so that the shade would be trapped between the birdcage and the guide wires. Check with shade screen suppliers, they may have other ideas.
Hope this helps.
