I have received this information from the President of my HOA.

On Wed. 3/09/2016 two women were accosted at gun point between the Postal Station and the wall to the Villas Of Spanish Springs. The gunman demanded Money and both women began screaming. The gunman ran off and escaped in a waiting vehicle. The gunman was m/w late 20's. Police were called and a report was taken.

I have yet to see any report of this in the online news site or in the Daily Sun.

The online news is pretty good at publishing news from law enforcement.

776.05 Law enforcement officers; use of force in making an arrest.—A law enforcement officer, or any person whom the officer has summoned or directed to assist him or her, need not retreat or desist from efforts to make a lawful arrest because of resistance or threatened resistance to the arrest. The officer is justified in the use of any force:
(1) Which he or she reasonably believes to be necessary to defend himself or herself or another from bodily harm while making the arrest;
(2) When necessarily committed in retaking felons who have escaped; or
(3) When necessarily committed in arresting felons fleeing from justice. However, this subsection shall not constitute a defense in any civil action for damages brought for the wrongful use of deadly force unless the use of deadly force was necessary to prevent the arrest from being defeated by such flight and, when feasible, some warning had been given, and:
(a) The officer reasonably believes that the fleeing felon poses a threat of death or serious physical harm to the officer or others; or
(b) The officer reasonably believes that the fleeing felon has committed a crime involving the infliction or threatened infliction of serious physical harm to another person.

That is true BUT the "I'm sorry" just might be 10 years in prison. Once the robber has your wallet and is running away, it is not alright to put a shot into his back.

There is also the shooting in a very stressful situation to be considered. The well trained lawman knows about that. In a stressful shooting situation, most bullets from average citizens would go in very haphazard pattern and have a good possibility of taking out bystanders.

Deadly force to protect your life or the life of another. You don�t take a life to protect �stuff.� If the scumbag takes your wallet, car, tv, poodle or the steak in your freezer, wave goodbye as he runs off and call 911. Don�t put stuff over a human life, even if it�s a scumbag.

If you want to play the technically legal game, I hope you have a $1 mill to defend yourself and a few years to spare as it runs through the legal system. Then you better hope you win or you will not be spending your final years in The Villages.

You mean that YOU know the rules, YOU have insurance, and YOU were taught to shoot by a retired secret service agent. I have no problem with that.

Not every gun carrier is as careful as you.

Also, do NOT tell me to shut up! I can exercise my First Amendment rights just as you can exercise your 2nd Amendment rights! Got it? Nowhere did I say that carrying a gun should be outlawed. Just do it all legally.
