Has anyone been told there has been a lot of rodent activity lately in attics? Bats, palm mice etc.

Palm rats will get into your attic. Don't let trees and bushes get too close to the roof line.

I think there was a recent post about a contractor going around door to door and saying that (to get into your house for business). Is that your case?

Oddly, a Massey guy did ask to look into our attic this morning but I told him No as I could do it myself. I did. No sign of rat or any other kind of droppings nor anything else up there than what I have put up there over the last 20 years or so.

They were doing the lawn spraying.

We had rodents in the attic that chewed holes in our ductwork. Repairs were just over ten thousand dollars. We chose to fix the roof vents where they were coming in and replace all the ductwork in the house as it was a mess.the house is new to us but over twenty years old in Spanish Springs.

Default Scam? Very likely.

I have heard of widows who were approached persons making such claims. The potential scammers were unsolicited - meaning the scammer initiated the contact. They scammer is very convincing. If you are approached, DO NOT grant them access to your attic. Instead, contact a reputable pest control company (which you can find by using this forum) and have it checked out.

In my opinion, our houses are generally well-protected against rodents, unless you let trees grow to touch your property.

Rodents do not need a big hole. They can enter an attic with much smaller holes that one can imagine. Plenty of information on the web if you want to check it out.

As someone said, tall trees and bushes close to the roof are a common way to get onto a roof. Rats will even jump from a nearby higher tree branch onto a lower roof. From someone who has had the experience (not in The Villages).

Mice, Palm rats and other critters get into your attics by going up through your gutter down spouts. Put a gutter screen at your down spout to keep them out.

They got to have path to enter a hole has to be chewed unless got 1900 house. I lived in country and always seen entry point. Hole size of silver dollar big enough entry hole to see. Most rodents other than mouse has to chew hole to get in if house in good condition. Most holes are chewed by squirrels which would be man hole size.

Use traps, not poison. If you poison them they will taste terrible.

I have not heard any talk about a lot of rodent activity, but I use and highly recommend Liberty Exterminators for all outdoor and indoor pest control service. I had a German cockroach problem they quickly resolved. I had a problem with squirrels chewing the lead around my roof vent pipes that was near to causing a water leak into my attic. They fixed the problem by installing vent covers that squirrels don't chew on. I had them install TAP Pest Control insulation over my existing attic insulation about a year ago. They did a great job and my peace of mind is immeasurable. For any pest problems, I call Jason with Liberty Exterminators at (352)721-5248.

Default Yes!

Four neighbors all had attic rats that were dealt with by Massey or other company recently. Now we are concerned, but Deans does not do rodents. Any suggestions for an honest rodent exterminator?
