Default Shades for the Lanai

Does anyone have a recommendation for a vendor who sells shades for the lanai?

RK Products (352-430-4430) did mine in July. Found him in the classified section and he came out right away and was a nice guy, his name is Stormy. I told him he looked just like Richard Dreyfus, which he said he had heard before.

Our lanai on our courtyard villa faces west and it is 8'4" x 14'. Up north I had a screened porch and it had vinyl columns and I just picked up some wood roman shades off Target.com website. However for this I wanted one piece and something more professional looking. Stormy measured it and said it will take 160" and would take about 3 weeks since it had to be made special and come from North Carolina and would have to ship by truck.

I picked dark brown which he said actually you can see out better than the lighter colors and looking in from the back yard you can't see anything. Price was $1600 installed with a crank, not electric motor which isn't really necessary in this situation. I gave him 10% down and he was back in two weeks and installed the shade in two hours. Looks really nice, similar to those you see on garage doors.

I didn't get any other estimates since we had just moved in and I had painters and landscapers and handyman and many others coming and going and the sun was just too much to take.

Default R&K

I used R&K also. Had the electric remote control ones put in. They weren't cheap but we believe they were the best investment we put into the house. We can see out but you can hardly see in and they do block the sunlite.

Are the shades themselves similar to the Cooleroo available at Lowes?

Default Lanai shades for sale

We r selling our lanai shades from R&k. We enclosed our lanai and have no use for them any longer. We have a Gardenia model and paid around $3000 for them. Am willing to sell for $1000 or BO. Blinds are automatic; not hand-cranked. If interested, please email me at damily@roadrunner.com.
