Default Does the warm Florida weather help with your knees?

58. knees let me know they are there if you know what I mean. hate the stairs and wished lived in a single story home. Cold weather seems to aggravate my knee aches. Does the warm Florida weather help anyone? Maybe moving about more helps? Is it my imagination?

Does anyone have an opinion that they are willing to share?

I'm not sure if it's the warm weather or if it's the fact that I get more exercise but I don't have as many aches and pains. It also might be that I'm so busy having fun and I'm not stuck in my house during the winter with nothing else to do but think about how my joints hurt

Definitely believe the warmer weather helps with the aches and pains that come with aging. But then, on the other hand, I am always on the go here which also helps to keep the joints moving!

I can only say that I much prefer living in a warmer climate than a cold one.

The warm weather and activity really help my knee pain. However, I just got off the statin med I was taking and the muscle and joint pain I was experiencing is almost completely gone. I do think warm weather and lots of exercise is the solution though.

THE COLD WEATHER COMBINED WITH A FALLING BAROMETER DOES AGGRAVATE THE KNEES AND JOINTS.........FOR EVERYONE WE KNOW UP HERE.

Such as when SNOW or RAIN is coming in........or DAMP WEATHER. Keep the thermostat and heat cranked up. Dress in lots of polar fleece.

Cold dry weather is not as bad. So, it is a changeable thing in the north.

What we notice is that HUMIDITY , no matter where one lives, aggravates the knees and the joints and the bones.

So, with that in mind.........I have also wondered about the high humidity in Florida, as far as aggravating the pain you speak of.

Obviously the nice soothing sunshine will help......as will a FLAT HOUSE.
Some people feel the knee pain when going DOWN a decline or hill or steps.........you wouldn't have that in Florida........while others feel the pain going UP the stairs. Can't win.

There was ONE BIG STORM FRONT THAT MOVED IN WHILE WE WERE IN THE VILLAGES LAST NOVEMBER..........I could feel that falling barometer terribly. That's why I wonder about summertime with all the storms that come in on a daily basis........at least when we lived in Florida, there was a daily rainstorm, which cooled things down. On the east coast, it would come in late afternoon, if my memory is correct.........didn't have joint pain then.

We just returned from a three week visit in NH to see our kids and my knees were crunching! I was amazed at how much of a difference the weather made in my joints as I have had several knee surgeries.
What a difference when I returned home. The warmer Florida weather and the warm pool waters as I play water volleyball and it was instant relief.
We have been home now for about one week and although I miss my kids and my grandson I don't miss the cold and the daily aches that come with that weather.

The humidity here doesn't seem to bother my knees, but the cold, damp does.
Fortunately, we only have those conditions here occasionally.
You figure out ways to deal with that.

We have been here since early 2011. We both feel an appreciable difference in our joints, but it has been gradual.

We too, left a home with multi-levels. That has helped a lot.

For us, sensible exercise on a regular basis, rest when appropriate, floors that don't kill your body to live on along with reasonably healthy eating are all things we can do with ease here.

We consider that the focus is now on nurturing ourselves. The hustle bustle grind of our previous years is done now... we have graduated to enjoyment.
That mindset alone ( which took awhile to sink into our heads) makes you FEEL GOOD ALL OVER.
