Could a bad background check on a potential renter allow a landlord to refuse to rent to the individual with that bad report?
Do any long term rental landlords have background checks done on potential renters?

Why would you bother doing one if it can't help you determine who you wish to rent your property to?

You should always do a credit check for potential long term tenants. Here is a site that I use. Tenant Screening | Employment Screening | Mortgage Credit Report| CTCredit
The fee (about $25) is passed on to the applicant. If they refuse to pay the fee or won't provide the info for the check, assume their credit rating is poor and move on. |
