Default Who is celebrating with fireworks?

Happy New Year to everyone! Wishing you all peace and health.

But, I'm so curious as to who is/was celebrating with personal fireworks tonight? In the historic section I've been hearing them go off since 6 or 7 pm pretty much non stop! I must admit I'm way past my party days so tonight is just another night, so I'm curious if it's any of you Villages residents firing those babies up. I don't mind them, just wondering if it's us or neighbouring non villagers that I can hear from here. In any case, CHEERS everyone!

It has been very noisy now at 11:00 PM but prior to that fireworks have been going off from about the same period of 6 or 7 pm. Very sporadic though from 7 to 10:30. We are near Southern Trace.

Sounds like the Lake Weir area, with other rural areas doing some celebrating ! Reflexes are too slow in Villages to light a cherry bomb and throw it

Hopefully no one was shooting firearms. In NM cities and towns it is quite common and every year people have holes punched in their roofs - and worse - by descending bullets as what goes up has to come down somewhere.

Lots of the same popping was going on down here south of 44 too. We were surprised as we are new here from SoCal where they’re illegal due to the wildfire danger. We weren’t bothered, just surprised since it wasn’t something we were used to. Our agent told us they’re legal twice a year.

On new year’s day we went over to Lake Okahumpka Rec Center to take a stroll and heard more of what we thought was the same celebrating, but were quickly informed it was duck hunters out on the lake. It’s pretty wild down here! 😅

I'm curious whether seniors are amused by popping them off. I think of fireworks as an amusement for kids, but I'm always tickled to hear how 'young minded' some retirees can be!

A bunch of idiots trying to blow a hand off while keeping their neighbors up in the middle of the night. What a thrill!

It's an interesting aspect of 4th of July and other fireworks popular holidays. Many Veterans have a hard time coping with fireworks. Read what one American Legion Post did to help:
