Default Bags of leaves north of 466

We use leaves as ground cover and if you have gathered leaves, we would love to have them. Please send private message. Thank you.

Actually leaves makes good compost when mixed in. But, it takes while to break down.

Thanks for the Memories...
Used to do same thing years and years ago.....

PLUS the City would PAY US to let them deposit leaves
on parts of the areas where we grew Veggies.
Had the best black topsoil using those leaves.

AND...YES you would be a GREAT neighbor.

Tempted to bring a few leaves over just so I can see what it looks like! Never heard of this system for a lawn.

Definitely not for lawns!
For flower/veg beds.
We store them in large compost bags to break down, then use them as mulch in the spring.
Fill the bottom of pole been trenches with them to hold moisture.
Wonderful stuff!

Leaves are a terrific mulch. The forests of this continent were beautiful because of the natural cycle of leaf mulch. I let leaves lie where they fall under shrubs and use compost. Great stuff. Too few people like you utilize these natural methods. Kudos.

The best part is, on a windy day you share all your leaves with your neighbors.

The Villages is far removed from the real world. In day of old in the real world, I used to use my rotary mower. I kept a really old one with a side discharge for this purpose.
Neighbors would spend hours raking leaves and bagging them. I would never pick up my leaves I would use my rotary mower to chop them up and blow them into the beds.
A few hand fulls of high nitrogen fertilizer mixed in and in the spring I had no or little work compost. Here many think sandy clay is normal and or good.

Not if done right. Proper composting gets hot. It gets hot enough to kill both disease, weed seeds and insects.
