Thank you for explaining why they're not reopening the other theaters...

I know......I may be the reason the theaters are not reopening. Me and many others who feel the same way. Sorry to say, but those theaters, especially the SS and LSL theaters needed an update. Brownwood was the best of the three.

Just wondering......The Rialto theater in SS was under construction and recliner seating was supposed to be going in there. What ever happened to that? Was any construction done at all pre-pandemic?

If you think movie theaters are "germ spreaders" then you might as well not go out in public at all. The theaters are so sparsely populated, the nearest person, in most cases, is not close to you. There is plenty of space, usually, to spread out.

You can be sure there is fine print somewhere covering that "false advertising" which is why they keep lawyers on retainer. Some info still shows Katie Belles, what about that? What about the whole North South connectivity "misinformation" a couple years ago? Don't think a business going out of business could be considered false advertising in the legal sense. Besides, there still are 3 movie theaters. Does the advertising say "operating movie theaters?" :D

Good splitting hairs with word games. LOL.

I would not be surprised they close this one down too. Just saw in today's paper that the Developer has been lying to us for over 3 years now, saying the Rialto Theater was being renovated and would reopen soon. HAH - another big fat lie. It is now going to house some new "fancy" gym company so when the Villages renovated, they KNEW they were selling it off to some other entity. LIE, LIE, LIE, that's all they do. I supposed by posting this, I will also be "bumped off" this site too. Heaven's sake if they ever printed the truth!

I believe there was good intention to renovate the Rialto Theater in Spanish Springs. That was pre-pandemic and we were told there would be recliner seating. Then the pandemic changed many things, including the future for The Rialto Theater. Too bad. I was so looking forward to having a more modern movie theater in The Villages.

Not exactly. But, it does say:

"You can enjoy all the blockbuster favorites and cinematic classics at the three movie theaters located in each of the town squares in The Villages community!"

That sounds like false advertising to me.

Actually they have been popular in the Villages over the past 17 years we have lived here. Drive-ins at the Polo Fields.

When was the last time they showed a movie there? Seems like a very long time

I’m not worried about germs but I sure remember when you were.

You just made the case for the developers, attendance is so poor that the theaters are not profitable.

Better to split hairs than to have a dangling participle.

Not that long before COVID came.

There are some movies that are far better on a big screen. The bigger the better. Cinerama, omnimax big. Not true in all cases, but with some movies size does matter. 😎

And cloth diapers are probably better than paper diapers but try to convince the parents changing them…. Convenience, efficiency with the same results wins.

Went to see The Woman King and there were maybe 25 people there today. It is Closed Captioning Tuesday.

I see the Rialto is going to be a workout business. I wonder which business will take over the Barn theater.

That will probably remain a movie theater.
