Hello
Has anyone heard what’s up with this still being closed? Is it a Labor issue or something else, as the Covid thing has since softened greatly and most businesses have resumed mostly usual and customary hours.
Thanks in advance.

I would not be surprised they close this one down too. Just saw in today's paper that the Developer has been lying to us for over 3 years now, saying the Rialto Theater was being renovated and would reopen soon. HAH - another big fat lie. It is now going to house some new "fancy" gym company so when the Villages renovated, they KNEW they were selling it off to some other entity. LIE, LIE, LIE, that's all they do. I supposed by posting this, I will also be "bumped off" this site too. Heaven's sake if they ever printed the truth!

It's funny, The Rialto is still featured prominently in the video clip on The Villages home page.

What do you mean that's not chocolate in your pants??? :22yikes:

Mine would be maybe 18 or so. One every two weeks on average. This is at the Old Mill Playhouse.

Thank you Mr "exception, not the rule"...

Fact is, the theater is almost empty most days...

The developer is rich so lets spend his money on reopening a movie that will lose money

They could probably make money on a fancy movie theater in the far southern area of the Villages. There is not much down that way as far as I know.

Could be but long term why invest in a declining industry?

This is like a mill town with a very unique population and now that they are building a large section for employees of the Villages and their kids there would be a need for various sources of entertainment like an IMAX.

There is not an IMAX anywhere close to the southern most Villages.

I highly doubt an IMAX would open inTV. At the one in Orlando a Senior ticket is 18, Adult 20 and a Child 17. If they can't fill up Old Mill on 6 Mondays, how many Seniors are going to buy 18 tickets? A family of 4 in Middleton would cost 74

The IMAX is one theater often among 16, 20 or even 24.

I cannot fathom a 16-screen theater in TV. I will not be shocked if the Brownwood thater is repurposed.

Good grief, all this angst because they are getting rid of phone booths…. Oh, I mean movie theaters. They both have the same amount of relevancy. If anything, the ad about movie theaters being available in the Villages ads should hurt sales since it sounds like a very, very old community.

Yep, goes the same way as drive in movies. Becoming a relic of our past.

Actually they have been popular in the Villages over the past 17 years we have lived here. Drive-ins at the Polo Fields.
