Just out of curiosity, how many time have YOU been to see a movie at the LSL theater this year?

I have not gone to the Old Mill Playhouse because it does not have all the newer features that other theaters in the area have. I've only seen three movies since the start of this year. West Side Story, Elvis and Top Gun Maverick are those three movies. I would not waster my money and my time to see these movies at the LSL theater. I much prefer to travel and get the full experience with huge screens and a sound system that will knock you socks off. In fact, during the flying scenes in the Top Gun movie, the seats VIBRATED during the action. OMG.....my heart was in my mouth.

Oh.....and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the recliner seats in these theaters with NO HEADS to ruin my view. There are fantastic theaters outside of The Villages!!!

EDIT: I just remembered......I did see Elvis once at the Old Mill Playhouse. It was great but not nearly the experience I had seeing it in Mt. Dora at an Epic Theater.

Thank you for explaining why they're not reopening the other theaters...

IMHO, a large screen TV and a surround sound system in one's living room will never replace a movie theater with huge screens and a sound system that can not be duplicated in a residential home.

Apparently, most people think like me and a trip to the theater is much like going to the dime store now. It’s lost it’s charm and it’s more of a germ spreader than watching movies at home. The list goes on and on…

The developers sponsor the movie theaters. They are not like the restaurants nearby that survive or fail based on their bottom line.

EVERYTHING survives or fails based on "the bottom line." Katie Belles and that Country Club as 2 examples. They aren't in it to lose money.

Yea, when the tickets are $5 (actually isn't cheap day $6 now?) and they are losing their pants just to get people in to hopefully buy overpriced candy and popcorn if they aren't hiding it under their pants.

YEA! Class action lawsuit! They will have to give refunds on homes purchased because the buyer thought there were 3 movie theaters. :1rotfl:

You can be sure there is fine print somewhere covering that "false advertising" which is why they keep lawyers on retainer. Some info still shows Katie Belles, what about that? What about the whole North South connectivity "misinformation" a couple years ago? Don't think a business going out of business could be considered false advertising in the legal sense. Besides, there still are 3 movie theaters. Does the advertising say "operating movie theaters?" :D

Mine would be maybe 18 or so. One every two weeks on average. This is at the Old Mill Playhouse.

Hello
Has anyone heard what’s up with this still being closed? Is it a Labor issue or something else, as the Covid thing has since softened greatly and most businesses have resumed mostly usual and customary hours.
Thanks in advance.

The Morse family wants to make more money so they will probably keep the theater closed and use the site for something else.

I think folks here In TV Florida would love to see new movies in a relaxing, well- built Theater. We are getting old movies at home on streaming television during COVID LOCKDOWN. IT IS TIME TO. “GO OUT”. FOLKS. If we lived up north we’d still be quarantined in our homes. My sisters up North told me they have empty grocery shelves and poor choice of shopping in stores. And. Sounds like they’re still in lockdown in Maryland. And the shopping malls haven’t been “safe” since the riots with roving GANGS. And police are quitting in droves in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
I am So Glad I moved and live HERE!

Theaters can’t compete with streaming TV IN YOUR OWN HOME

Seeing a new Movie on television or PC your own home IS cheaper than Buying two tickets to a local movie theater. it makes sense to stream movies and shows to Hulu, Pluto, or Netflix and Amazon prime in the comfort of Home.

Anyone notice that the owners of Regal Theater put the chain into bankruptcy. If the demand was there would not have happened

Did you read the article about Spanish Springs in the paper today? Less than 20% of available seats nationwide were sold between Memorial Day and the end of July. That’s exactly why theaters are closing and why they’re turning The Rialto into a gym.

Villagesgal 09-19-2022 09:08 AM

I'm just glad that the movie theater at LSL is still open.

I read that and they did not say anything about not opening a theater in Spanish Springs. They just said that COVID hit the movie industry hard and not that many movies had been made during that time.

The articlestated that the gym is moving into the Rialto. It is on the 1st page.
