There is an article in the other news site with info and a map of the 5 acre horse compatible homesites at Chatham Acres and also the new Soulliere Villas coming up here in the north part of the Villages. Find the article and then in the middle click on get a closer look to see the map. In the upper right hand corner of the map is a smaller map that shows everything. You can zoom in on this pdf file.
Looks nice, more commercial space coming a well. |

The lots can accommodate "two structures" (perhaps residence and stable) and up to four horses, as well as chickens in an approved enclosure.
This fits in with the spirit of Central Florida, where Ocala has many horse farms.

Indoors, particularly with the TV or radio on, I never heard a train. I think the rich folks will bear up under the strain.

Its more like half a mile to the train tracks from Chatham Acres. Fact is, anywhere in the Villages west of Buena Vista can hear the trains, if you check on google maps you will see quite a few villages that are within a mile or two from the tracks.

I'm about 4 miles from the tracks, I can here them quite clearly and I ONLY HAVE ONE EAR! As far as the train noise not that loud, but when they blow the whistle at 301 and cr 42 it's quite loud. But, I still young enough to hear even with one ear. |

New Quiet Zones To Help With Train Noise Pollution By Kathryn Farr April 19, 2017 Public safety The blaring of a train horn is soon to disappear from some Marion County railway crossings. Marion County has partnered with CSX Transportation and the Florida Department of Transportation to establish three quiet zones at track intersections along U.S. Highway 301. The quiet zones are located at County Road 42, 500 feet east of U.S. 301, Southeast 135th Street, 1700 feet east of U.S. 301 and Southeast 147th Street, 4500 feet east of U.S. 301. These quiet zones are established in areas along railroad tracks where train horns are not routinely sounded. Trains are no longer required to sound their horns at these intersections, unless deemed necessary for safety reasons, according to the Marion County Office of the County Engineer. |
