Has anyone had problems with "bed bugs." One of the pest control companies was around selling insurance that they will get rid of bed bugs for a one time fee of $195.00. IF you don't have the insurance, it will cost over $800.00. Any one buy this insurance?

Oh wow. That sounds like someone who has a lot of Brooklyn Bridges left. People who come to your door need to be treated very skeptically.

Don't get me wrong. They are all over this country, but I have never heard of anyone here having them.

I think I heard of roaches in a rental once.

Bed bugs can be brought home from all over the world. As far as insurance goes, I do not know. Bed bugs are very expensive to eradicate and the cost is on a room by room basis through most exterminators.

You are correct.

Even more "food for thought"........has anyone thought what might be transported in a moving van (in which your own beds and furniture are being relocated to Florida)......these big trucks go back and forth, state to state.

Who really knows how the bed bugs might get anywhere?
I've actually read that they are in some of the high end hotels.

I have read that the chemicals used to kill them can be very toxic if not applied by experienced people. Incorrect doses can be more harmful than helpful.

I wouldn't buy anything from someone going door to door.

Also , exterminators have some big "fish stories".
We heard quite a few of them while living in Florida .......in the past.

Exterminators and plumbers, both trades could really write interesting expose books.

p.s. Roaches are all over Florida....even in the best places. They only come out at night.
We had one in our rental in TV and it was a lovely home. (One that we saw. Maybe two at the most, that we saw.)

I bought it from my Pest Control company. It's a one time charge and a small price to pay for piece of mind in my opinion. We travel a lot and stay at various Hotels. You never know who has been there before you. Also if you rent your property I would say it is a must. Bed Bugs are ever growing problem and are VERY difficult to get rid of. That being said my pest control company (Superior) also does my sprinklers, fertilizing, as well as pest control. I wouldn't have bought it as a stand alone policy from someone knocking at my door.
