I found this online:
"The minimum legal drinking age varies dramatically around the world. Most such laws apply only to drinking alcoholic beverages in public locations. The only country with a minimum legal age for consuming alcohol at home is the United Kingdom, which prohibits drinking below the age of six."

Really?

Set in my ways, I know, but I prefer a Strawberry Shake with my Original/Classic Cheeseburger.

I have some very real reasons given my daughter's biological makeup and his father's issues.

I worked hard to ensure that my daughter understood the risks of drugs and alcohol. I'll continue doing so with my grandson. It worked for her. Hopefully, the same standards will work for him.

So, for me, personally, serving beer here is bad and it just takes a restaurant I liked off the list for my grandson.
And there is nothing wrong with that choice.

I don't see what the big deal is other than a person's perception of what, specifically, is a "child's" restaurant. Does that really matter? I'm sure the CEO of Johnny Rocket's doesn't think of his restaurants as being for kids. So why shouldn't beer be served? You take children to regular restaurants where alcohol is served and don't even give it a second thought.

What exactly, is the big deal? Yes -- only an adult's misdirected perception, but not the reality of it all.

I respect your decision. Are the squares off your list as well?

Can't you still have that preference even if they serve beer?

For now, yes. As he gets older, probably not. As I said, I did pretty much the same for my daughter and it worked well for her. Took one step at a time in showing her the pros and cons of drinking and taught her about her risks at a very young age (her bio-mom was an alcoholic by age 12).

For now, I prefer he see people having a drink with a meal, but he's not quite old enough to understand drinking while having a good time. Fortunately, my daughter is very much following the lessons I taught her.

Please understand that I am not in the least condemning JR's for serving beer. It just is bad for me. And odds are I might even stop in there for a cold one and a BLT but not with my grandson.

Naw, no good having beer at Johnny Rocket's. There's enough beer joints around TV without this restaurant serving an adult beverage. I too would not bring youngsters in there but then again, I'm just about out of youngsters.
