We will be using a POD to move to TV. What can we do with all of the boxes, packing paper, etc. that we will have when we unpack???

if you are looking to give them away, just post it on this site. There are always plenty of people needing boxes.

We will definitely be "giving them away" (boxes anyway) - just want to get rid of them. I guess my main question is about "bulk" trash. Are there trash services available that will pick up "larger than normal" trash??

You can call the trash service, Sumter Sanitation at (352) 748-0109 to arrange for the pickup up of your bulk items.

The regular Village trash service will haul away most stuff. We broke the boxes down and they took them. Put all the stuffing paper in one of the wardrobe boxes and they took it also. Try them first. We found that you cannot throw away enough before you get here. Salvation Army will pick up the extra furniture you bring.

We had 71 boxes. I broke each down to flat cardboard as I unloaded it. On recycle day I put out two big stacks of flat cardboard and they took them all.

Congratulations on your upcoming move!

It would be nice if someone else could use them but if that doesn't work out, as John_W said, cardboard boxes can be broken down and put out for recycling pickup. They don't have to be bound or bagged or anything. Paper packing materials will also be picked up. There isn't a limit on the amount that I've ever heard of.

Trash and recycling pickup rules vary a bit depending on what county you're in, but you should be given all that information when you get your resident ID cards.
