Thumbs up Shoulder Surgery Rehab

I will be having Rotator Cuff surgery up North and remain there for the first six weeks. I would like to continue physical therapy back in the Villages at the end of the six weeks . I would very much like some recommendations and or personal experiences on PT locations here in theVillages .
thank you

For orthopedic issues I deal with the Orthopedic Institute. They've been superb. Give them a call and perhaps they can recommend a place, but don't be surprised if they(or anyone else)would want to see you first. Rehab places rarely perform their job without a doc's reference first.

I don’t know how convenient to you this is, but I’ve always used Lake Center for Rehab located next to the Sharon Morse building.

Florida Rehab Specialists; ask for Jim (352-751-6627); located across the street from the Lady Lake Library. Used him twice on my rotator cuff surgeries (I never learn......) and my wife on her knee replacement; Jim is really good.

Not sure on pt spots but staying there six weeks? If its arthroscopic its minimally invasive. That means not so bad you can not go home to rehab. I have had two rotator repairs and although not fun. No reason to incur an expense like that.

Lake Rehab - Tracy Goldstein Marquez at Lake Sumter & Brownwood locations. I worked with her for frozen shoulder & she is the best!

Good luck with your surgery, I had my surgery January 27, 2021 on a
Wednesday and they had me in rehab on Friday. Right shoulder.

Default Physical Therapy recommendation

I had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders last year (one July, one Sept) with Advanced Orthopedic Institute(Dr. Cook). I live in Fenney and did not want to drive to their office each time for Therapy. I used Cora Physical Therapy in Grand Traverse for both rehabs. They were awesome people to deal with and very flexible on scheduling. Cora has locations all around the villages where AOI has one location near the hospital in Spanish Springs. I also went to Cora's Lake Sumter location for therapy massages to help with some of the tightness in my back and neck after surgery.
If you contact Cora or one of the other PT groups that are not owned by the doctors office, they will look for you to get your doctors recommended protocol and that is what they follow. Each Cora office I went to have a Doctor of Physical Therapy as well as PT assistants. I saw the Dr(Clair) on my first visit and at intervals during my PT she would perform the pt and check my progress, etc.
My neighbor had his rotator cuff surgery also with Dr. Cook at AOI and he did rehab at AOI and he thought they did a great job also. I just preferred not to drive 40 minutes each way 3 times a week for a 30 minute session. Hope that helps

I think they meant they’re having their surgery up north & remaining at their home up north post op and doing their first 6 weeks of PT there, then returning to FL to their home here & continuing their PT here. My rotator cuff repair was extensive & I had 3 months of actual PT plus 9 more months of twice daily PT exercises on my own at home. Not that hard to figure out.

thank you all for your input, very helpful . My current understandng is that I won't begin active PT until six weeks post op. My plan would be to return to the villages as soon as I have no further visits with the surgeon. If its sooner than the six weeks that would be great.
