I don’t understand what you mean. The turnpike entrance off of 301 is just a short distance after you cross 44. If you take 44 to 75 and then come back down to the turnpike you are just going in a circle.
I guess what it boils down to is that taking my route, once I am on I-75 I am essentially already on the turnpike (actually only on 75 for a quarter mile or so then I get in the left lane and am already on the turnpike). Once on the turnpike I can go 70 mph (or a little faster). Taking 301 is usually slower--35 mph at its slowest, 55 mph at its fastest with Wildwood business district (and associated traffic) thrown in to boot. I've gone both ways, but I know which one gets me there faster.

I'm sure it all depends on which area of The Villages you're coming from. As long as it gets you where you want to go that is all that matters!

True, but my wife says we should try going directly on 301 to the turnpike again because it has been a while since we last used that route. I'm going to try it when we go back to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Show in two weeks. I might have to report back here that I was wrong.

Sorry Cappy, I got your post confused with another one. I thought you were taking 301 all the way to 44 and then taking 44 to 75. Upon re-reading your orginal directions, I see that is not the case. Sorry

No worries--as long as we all make it safely to WDW, I'm a happy camper!

Take Buena Vista to (brownwood) Highway 44,
Highway 44 to Highway 27 (watch out for the hard right on 44 about halfway there), at that point you're out of Leesburg pretty much.

44 to the turnpike", turnpike to Tollway 429, down to exit 8 is disney.
it's quieter and easier. one hour just about to the minute from here.

(My wife is a Disney-holic, I've made this run in my sleep!!!)
I think you meant "Highway 27 to the turnpike".

Is there any buses or shuttles that you take from the Villages to Disney or Universal studio? Thanks!

Default From Winter Park.....

You gave me great directions from a Disney resort to TV, but plans have changed and we will now be coming from our son's home in Winter Park. Is there a "better than" route from there, or pretty much just one way?

Thanks!

Approximately once a month AAA has a bus that goes from TV to Disney, Universal, and Sea World. Not exactly sure of the price, but I seem to remember it was approximately $40 (when you consider disney charges $14 to park plus the high cost of gas, plus tolls this is pretty reasonable for one person but not economical for two or more). It leaves in the morning, drops off at Disney, then goes to drop off at Universal, then drops off at Sea World. Returns to TV in the evening. Call AAA for details.

Default Returning to The Villages

Once I'm inside Disney, I tend to get turned around. What signs do I watch for to get me back out to 429 for the return trip home?

You should see signs for SR-192 when you exit. Be sure to take 192 WEST when you exit and you'll see signs to 429. If you go east you hit all the traffic/congestion east of Main Gate.

Default airport

I'm going to try the same route to get to the airport.
Down thru Brownwood. Makes sense.
I used to go out 301. I'll be adventurous!
