Default Swan Lake at The Sharon

Went to see Swan Lake Ballet last night and the performers were spectacular. The downside was that the music was canned which really disappointed me because I called The Sharon and asked if there would be a live orchestra. I was told that the music would be live so I purchased my tickets. However, I still enjoyed the show but the canned music was pretty annoying.

I don't think there is an orchestra pit at The Sharon.

There is an orchestra pit at the Sharon. When it is not in use it's floor is raised up and the area is used for seating. The presentation of The Mikado earlier this year had a live orchestra in the pit.

The Nutcracker had canned music. We were disappointed for that program. Live music is so very much better, and what we had expected at The Sharon.

Just my opinion, I saw Swan Lake on Wed night and thought the entire presentation was wonderful. I realized at one point that the music was not live, but it really didn't bother me because the ballet story and the dancing was so spectacular. Yes, it probably would have been nicer to have a live orchestra, but I was very happy with the show. I'm also going to see Sleeping Beauty on Sat afternoon. I'm so glad they are bringing cultural entertainment to TV. Now if we could only get a good opera, I will be in Heaven.

BUT,,,, I really do miss Church on the Square....

As I mentioned in my original post, I really enjoyed the production. My only problem was that I called The Sharon and asked if their was going to be an orchestra and I was assured that there was.

Now that I know there is an orchestra pit I would expect live music at productions such as The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. The Sharon is an excellent venue and not using its capabilities lessens the experience.
