We just had a birdcage installed and put in a hot tub. The Birdcage area is directly acrossed from the neighbors lanai. Does anyone have suggestions what to put on the screens for privacy. We are having some landscaping done, but I would like some sort of rollup blinds to be installed in one corner for immediate privacy. I have not be able to find anything on the internet. Any suggestions. Thanks.

T & D Pool and Patio has beautiful screens that are opaque for privacy, but still let the breeze flow through. Some have images on them. Here is a link. Some are a topical beach scene, etc.:

I've seen some of the stencils (not T & D) on Courtyard Villa walls, and I'm not a fan. Too busy. I wonder if T & D has showrooms with displays. These look great on the internet. It would be interesting to view them in an actual lanai.

Try lattice. Cut it up to fit spaces between metal posts in birdcage. If done right, they will look good and will help till your landscape greenery grows.

I don't want/need comments on the the addition, I am looking for information on what other people have done for privacy. If anyone has this information please comment.

I am sure that tons of residents have felt the desire for more privacy here. When you first look at homes here and you see one home after another in such close proximity, there is a tendency to overlook any privacy deficiency because "surely it must be OK because everybody is in the same boat". However, after the move-in, the curtain rises and you can see that privacy (yours) is more important to some than others. It will be interesting to see if there is some more proactive feedback like the one about the decorative privacy screens.

I've seen several lanais with the bamboo roll-up screens. They were used a lot in the Bay Area when I lived there. They do have a tendency to rot out in the sun, but are easily (and relatively cheaply) replaced. One big plus to them is you don't have to have them all across your lanai. They work well in just one corner or area.
