Thumbs down AT&T Again!!

I just noticed that I was being charged 19.99 a month fro my microcell! When I got it they told me there were no other charges however the agreement they had me sign said differently! After again spending endless time on the phone with them they told me that was for unlimited use of the microcell....I never asked for this! so finally after lots of haggling they will drop this charge and I will be back to using my minutes (as I thought I was all along).
On another tack have you seen any improvement from the new towers they were going to open but didn't!!

This was the last straw for me. My agreement is up in December and I will be bidding them a not so fond adieu!
I can get unlimited service for a lot cheaper with another provider then the exorbitant metered rates offered by AT&T. I even feel slightly motivated to picket the new AT&T store opening in the villages telling them to tell the truth about their abysmal coverage in the Villages.

Question AT&T towers

AT&T service in TV has been a bone of contention with me for months. I have a fantastic plan which I am grandfathered into.....unlimited calling and data. I'd be crazy to give it up. Last I talked to AT&T, they said new towers are going up on: County Hwy SE 165; Buena Vista & El Camino; Cherry Lake Road area. They told me they should be set to go on October 30th. Fingers crossed.....but I'm not bettin' the ranch on it!

We went crying back to verizon after 2 days with at&t. They kindly forgave us, waived all reactivation and connection fees and gave hubby a great price on the phone he wanted. No dropped calls since.

I have no problem at all with AT&T in TV. No dropped calls, tons of minutes, etc...maybe has something to do with location, location, location.

...of what year - that's gonna be the big question!

There was a thread a little while back about a tower that AT&T was working on getting approved in Wildwood:

New AT&T cell phone tower

I went to Wildwood's web site and they have no link posted for the meeting minutes to know what transpired at their October 4th meeting. There's a Adobe icon there but it doesn't have a link associated with it. Or maybe I'm just missing something.

Regardless, I hope AT&T really DOES start delivering on those towers pretty soon!

I was told recently that there will be a new tower up by the end of October; but a second new one will not be completed until March, 2012! @&#$%^

When I asked why they thought they needed a second one, they said it was because they knew that the first one won't be enough to fully fix the reception problem in TV. From what I have seen, the problem is worse the further south you go in TV.

They also said it takes only 3 months to construct a tower.

I think that we need more people calling them or talking to the people at the stores about this problem!

Default Dropped AT&T also

I had my cell phone coverage with AT&T but dropped it after one frustrating day when my DSL was out which also took out my home phone service when I was trying to work from home.

I couldn't get a signal in my own house despite showing on a map as having full coverage. I had to stand out on my deck in one spot to get a signal. I would go through all the menus to talk to someone only to get dropped when I was 10 seconds away from speaking to someone. I had to go down to my mother's house to call to see what was up with the DSL.

I was off contract and got a new phone and service from Verizon the next weekend. I haven't had a dropped call since.

No dropped calls near SS.
We plan to switch to Sprint with iPhone 4s this week.
If Sprint doesn't have better results they will go back.

think there may be a reason the new AT&Tnstore will be in SS. In some restaurants in Sumter L you get no service (on your att cell that is)

Default AT&T service

I have been complaining to AT&T about poor service for several years. I live in the village of Largo and get no service or extremely weak signal and dropped calls routinely. I have talked to several levels within their technical staff and have heard many stories about new towers. I am convinced there will be no new tower that will help the southern part of TV until at least March 2012 and that will be a tower off of Cherry Lake Rd.

Default new icon for service

We have AT&T in Buttonwood and the reception is terrible. We went to their office and they agreed that they had essentially no coverage here. They wouldn't give us a signal amplifier as they had another neighbor, but they were "willing to give it to us for half price." That was about $100. We also had to upgrade our phone in order to be able to use the signal amplifier. We didn't have to sign a new contract just get new phones. We didn't price that option out.

We decided to get a land line instead.

Oh, the new icon? It looks remarkably like the one-finger-salute!

that the new AT&T store will be in Sumter Landing. I hope they enjoy their phones not working in many of the restaurants there.

So who is down in the Hadley area that have great cell reception, if anyone does, what carrier are they using??

We are in Hemingway, next door to Hadley. My neighbor has AT&T and swears by it ... oops, no he swears AT it - he can never get a signal. I used to have Sprint (2 1/2 years ago) and had constant dropped calls (don't know if it has improved since). We switched to Verizon and have good service ever since (except for about a month or two last year when they were making some adjustments to their network).

it seems like verizon (who also owns the landlines) is a good bet. A friend mentioned virgin atlantic (I think) but I have no idea how it is down here.
