Default Bowling Alleys +The Pub & McCalls Tavern

This might be old news to some but I heard today they have been sold to private investor group that specialize in bowling alleys. My question is this.

Are the OSU and Cleveland Browns football games going to be shown at the Pub any more.

Also are the Penn State football games going to be shown at McCalls Tavern any longer.

If anyone has any information about these questions please reply to this post.

The bowling alleys are being purchased by Bowlero, which owns 300 or 400 bowling alleys nationwide and the PBA, including several others in the area. I attended a meeting with the new area manager for our 2 bowling alleys, there was no discussion of the Pub or Mcalls beyond they were purchased also. The closing is in late September, so specific information should be available around that time.

100% correct on that one, their good chicken somehow disappeared over the last couple years, must have been a Covid thing.

I don't understand that at all. I heard about the fried chicken dinner over and over. I heard it was the best that people ever had so I went there and it was terrible.

I heard that the original chef died in an auto accident and took the recipe with him.

Since this evolved into a McCalls chicken thing... We gave them two tries. Both times the service and chicken stunk.

In regards to Bowlero, I used to go to one of the joints they took over and found it pretty much remained the same operation. In a way it's good of them to buy up the old alleys and save them.

A new bowling lane will cost you anywhere from $18,000 to $45,000. With all the accouterments factored in from bowling ball prices to automatic bumpers, you will end up spending anywhere from $65,000 to $100,000 for a one-lane alley in your house. On average, most home bowling alleys cost around $130,000 to $200,000 for a two-lane setup.

The chicken was "terrible"? That seems like hyperbole to me. I've eaten their chicken probably six or seven times, and each time it was decent. It's not comparable the fried chicken sold by a couple of African American women at a roadside chicken stand we like near the Savannah, GA exit on I-95, but it certainly wasn't "terrible". Maybe you caught them on a bad day.

Has anybody tried the 48 hour fried chicken dinner at Cheers in Stonecrest, same recipe as Demshers used to have. IMHO, better than McCall's any day.

Default Cleveland Browns Backers

Welcome to the 2022 season, LADY LAKE TRI-COUNTY BROWNS BACKERS!

Beginning this Sunday, Sept. 11, for the 1pm game against Carolina Panthers, we will meet at our new home, Back Porch Mulberry – 8761 SE 165, in the Mulberry Plaza along Rt. 42, near the intersection of Buena Vista Blvd. (This restaurant is 11 miles from Seabreeze Rec Center, 2 miles from Lopez Legacy Country Club, 8 miles from Lake Sumter Landing, 14 miles from Rohan Rec Center.) The owners of Back Porch Mulberry are excited to have us!

The Pub can no longer accommodate our group, as the bowling alleys have been sold.

Everything at this new location will be the same for our club: 50/50 raffle, jersey raffle, door prizes, club shirts for sale, and lots of TVs to watch our Cleveland Browns.
