From the United States Census Bureau (statistics source):
· Every year more than 4000 churches close their doors compared to just over 1000 new church starts.
· Every year, 2.7 million church members fall into inactivity. This translates into the realization that people are leaving the church.
· From 1990 to 2000, the combined membership of all Protestant denominations in the USA declined by almost 5 million members (9.5 percent), while the US population increased by 24 million (11 percent). From 2000 to 2010, it was worse - almost 9 million members left.
· The United States now ranks third (3rd) following China and India in the number of people who are not professing Christians; in other words, the U.S. is becoming an ever increasing "un-reached people group."
· Half of all churches in the US did not add any new members to their ranks in the last two years.
Omigoodness. I had not ever read these statistics but suspected it was happening. That kind of explains why some people think it is o.k. to do whatever they can get away with and to assume your stuff is theirs for the taking.. I too am not a practicing Catholic but still have "The Ten" engraved somewhere inside.

Now I am really sad.

So the conclusion is that, despite the addition of 25,000 to 40,000 more people, we need fewer churches? People and their statistics. SMH

What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world (the Villages) and loses his own soul?

A large new Methodist Church is being built within a ten minutes golf cart ride from our house in Lake Deaton that makes me happy!

Common sense says that if there is a demand and current churches are maxed out...new ones will be built.

Not to even mention, that it is up to each individual denomination to build a church...NOT a housing developer.

Well said Bonny, I agree with you.
I can't believe there are so many, who live here, expressing negative and pessimistic views on continued development of our community.

This place is awesome. We owned a golf course lot in Arkansas situated at a tee box with a clear flowing creek on the other side of the tee box; we had an architect site plan the home we had picked out, talked to a couple of builders and then , we made the 2 day drive down here, turned down 466 from 301 and didn't make it to Morse when my wife announced "we're selling the lot and moving down here". We've been here 2 years and just like Loverboy's song, we're "loving every minute of it"!

To the crybabies and whiners - SELL. YOUR. HOME. AND. MOVE....
