Default Brighthouse/Spectrum not the same company.

We have been in TV for five years and have moved once both SO of 466A. We signed up with Brighthouse in 2012 and had never had a better cable company service and internet service. Last year we were informed that Brighthouse would become Spectrum. We noted the TV ads and on our billing statement "Brighthouse is now Spectrum." Recently our bill says Spectrum. When you phone the main number they answer as Spectrum. Yesterday we received a letter saying that our bill would increase by $15 per month in May. Reason given was we had been on a introductory price and it was expiring. We were never informed of this. I called this morning and informed that I would not pay a $15 increase. After we discussed for several minutes the person came back and said we can switch you to Spectrum and your total bill will decrease by $70 per month. I said I thought you were already the same company. They said we just use the same towers owned by Spectrum. Anyway he converted me over to Spectrum for $34.95 for new cable boxes and my monthly bill decreased by $70 per month for the same services. Seems Brighthouse owes me some money and from their advertising lately this is very questionable marketing.

Spectrum was running really nice introductory offers for "new" customers, but that did not include existing customers it inherited when it bought Brighthouse. So I'm guessing when you decided to quit, they sent you to the "resolutions department" which is authorized to give you a deal. Well done!
The beef I have with Spectrum/Brighthouse here in TV is that you HAVE to have a cable box for each TV. At about $6 a pop each month for each one.The signals are scrambled in central Florida. I have Spectrum in Clearwater and two of my TV's plug right into the wall, as signals are not scrambled there (yet).

A poster from another thread mentioned the merger. Charter Communications has bought/merged (not clear what) with Brighthouse and Time Warner to form what is now Spectrum. BUT, for the time being, all three are offering their services under the same company name as before. In your case, it does appear they are working together already.

I'm not a fan of government regulation but so called Cable/internet/phone companies have created chaos with their ever changing rates. Competition was to decrease rates but we have seen the "game" of introduction rates followed by increased rates with most folks paying considerable more money for lousy customer service. So.....bottom line......I doubt if anything will change in the foreseeable future.

Be ready to renegotiate in a year when your new introductory plan wears off.
