Got a question for the snowbirds - what do you do with your BBQ grills (propane) when you leave for the summer?
Pretty easy up north - just put the BBQ in the garage ![]()

How about put the grill in the garage, and the propane tank on the lanai, so any gas escaping will dissipate ??

living on the historic side - sans garage - we leave the grill and detached propane tank outside in the enclosure under the carport...would leave in the lanai if not for the enclosure...friends leave their grill/tank in the utility room - not under air - has worked well for years.

I heard from a Florida resident to put a bowl of kitty litter on top of the grates if you aren't going to use the grill for a period of time. Prevents moisture problems.

Make sure you check that a cat didn't get in there before you light it up or you might be having roasted putty cat for dinner!

Our lanai has windows which we plan on leaving open a bit when we leave. So it is safe to leave it there.
Thanks for the reponses (no cats in the grill) ![]()

I burn off the propane that we didn't use during the season. I store the empty propane tank and the BBQ grill in the garage.
I would like to store the propane tank with the gas in it but I worry about leaving it on the lanai. Our lanai is enclosed with screens only so I would be placing the tank next to the house on the lanai to keep it out of the elements. Should I be leery about leaving propane in the tank if I store it on the lanai?
