Here I am hoping that Brownwood will breathe new life into Wildwood - jobs and business opportunities leading to more prosperity and less crime. Wildwood is a very old and historically significant town, part of old Florida. If anything, we are the interlopers!

Assuming that's what they want, I don't know how the election districts are set up, but I think they are going to change whether they like it or not.

Default Everybody is right.

I admit I haven't read all the posts. I think Brownwood will be just fine and Wildwood is a regular place with many good people.
However, we have our vet in Wildwood at the end of the plaza. Every time we take our dog there, we see new posters on the bulletin board looking for info on a murder victim and/or wanted people who live in Widwood.
So this town definitely has an area that is super tough - wrong side of the tracks literally. Once coming to vet, we were offered drugs( huh-do we look like we use drugs!! I think the seller was really wasted.) So like many places, it has a tough section and I sure would stay out of there at night.

So in a way, all the posters I've read are right.

I think the town got its name from criminals hiding out here.

However,we just love our vet and feel fine to go to his place during the day.

A rumor is the developer has hired a few undercover police officers to work Brownwood.

I am sorry to say that with BW so close to the drug activity there are significant risks. It is clear that it is harder for this to enter the LL or LSL vicinities since they are more isolated and the wagons have circled them Not the case with Brownwood. I could even get a little more
paranoid with the location of BW. Being where it is on the main highways
it could (not saying would) become a drop off point or central location for
mules smuggling drugs on the west side of Florida. (e.g. from north of
Fl line ..Ga to Tampa, Orlando and all points west of 75). This has been the case in some areas of the country where drug mules use central locations for drop offs and transfers. History will be the answer..
I think I have come up with a solution to our issue. Let's keep all the outsiders out as previously suggested.

All residents north of 466 MUST only attend Spanish Springs. All residents between 466 and 466a can only visit LSL. All those south of 466a must stay on their side of the road and use Brownwood. I, for one, would not like any of those "outsiders" coming into MY area. Those people from Detroit or NYC or Chicago probably all have mafia connections or drug backgrounds. You know what they say about what happens up there....

And here I thought with age came wisdom....... Personally I want to apologize to all the residents of Wildwood for the short sightedness of a minute minority of the TV residents.

now just what is it that some THINK they know about Wildwood that raises such concern???
First hand? Second? Just parroting and don't really know?

Do some of you think the developer gave venturing South toward Wildwood some thought?
Do some of you think the developer gave some thought to a new town center so close to Wildwood?

How about learning a little more about Wildwood. Not just the shady side, because as we all know that shady side exists in every community in the world. And oh by the way misrepresents the other 99% who live there the same as you who seemingly would be happier with a bubble within the bubble known as TV.

Have your concerns and opinions but do not make a general negative aspect based on the one percent.

The developer may have to change their signage....The Villages, friendliest hometown in FL (as long as you are a resident).

Naturally, would not do so in a city like Detroit, Flint, Washington DC, or Queens. How about you?
I would have no reason to walk around Wildwood after dark. Now if there was a shopping mall or other stores, restaurants, bars, movies open after dark, and people around, yes, I would go there, same as I would (and did)in Stamford CT or Port Chester NY. I'm not a dummy but I"m not paranoid either.

Have you ever actually read these posters? How many people could be missing, murdered, wanted or on the lam from a town of 6000 people?

After reading all these posts, I was wondering if anyone from Wildwood is on TV.
I would love to hear what they have to say about all this.

Question Why

Why all of the support for Wildwood? What is prompting all the write in's that it is such a solid community and TV willl benifit from the association? Did anyone see the paper today. Almost 50% of the arrests were from Wildwood
with 3 (2 under 55) in The Villages. If a reader is right that Wildwood is 6000 and TV's is 90,000 it does not take a very smart person to draw some conclusions. Nothing would be better than for my concerns to be absolutely wrong and I would cheer they are. Unfortunately that goes against some of the alleged facts???

How many arrests were there, 600? Are we talking armed robbery, murder, arson? We need more details.... Or are we talking about a few people from Wildwood and some of them repeat offenders?

there must be many of you who would never venture to places like Orlando where they have many many shootings and murders.....PER DAY!!!!!

I suppose one might even say ...well we don't go where that happens in Orlando.....ya know what? ditto for Wildwood.

if you are on this site and are a wannabe from wildwood, i could understand why you would not want to come forward, i have only driven thru wildwood, so i have never met anyone from wildwood, that i know of, i think when brownwood opens all of our questions will be answered, and i hope that the workers on brownwood that are from wildwood will come and enjoy what they put their heart and sole in... on the video all workers seem so proud of what they are doing, to make our time enjoyable at the new square
