And who cares how many posts per day she makes. You think she's making money on it somehow? Go read her other 4500 posts and tell me one time where PT wasn't caring or didn't try to help someone else etc. She's a great TOTVer and even more impressive when you get to know her in person.

PLEASE!
I started this thread to alert those that were building or thinking about building to a 4% discount if they did it North of 466A, and before September 30. It helped those it was intended for and I'm happy for my effort. Bless them for their savings, period.

Those are my words, and these are her's ( you only showed part of her quote )

Think about it. How many stores to do go to where you have to walk through a maze of impulse-item displays before you get to the check-out register. Grocery stores have always had impulse items at checkout, but now stores have a literal maze of items you have to walk through to check out.

Needing an appointment with the Design Center to get the 4 percent discount is like that too. Look at and discuss with our professionals every single upgrade available for your home and you'll get a four percent discount. I wonder how many people who make those appointments with the Design Center leave spending more rather than less than they expected before they got their discount.

I'm not knocking it. It's good marketing. And you are getting somethign of value for your money.

But understanding the game before you go in could save you some dough.

I'm just saying.

Now I wonder if she had posted the original thread first if she would have included that statement that some may have been confused by. I think I put out a good post that helped folks, and I will never have 4500 posts on here because I get out some and enjoy TV.

Yes I wasn't questioning your thread. I think it's part of the service that TOTV provides by alerting wannabes to discounts and opportunities. That's good and valuable.

Since PT is a marketing person she knows what TV is doing. But she was using her experience just to make sure that no one gets suckered during the design process. Knowledge is power and that's what she was providing.

Hi Jim,
It was wonderful of you to alert people to the 4 percent discount. Some posters on this thread went ahead and made their appointments thanks to your thread. Had they not, they might not have been among the 200 receiving the discount.

I hoped my marketing knowledge might help some shop more wisely and that is all. In no way did I mean to slight you or minimize your kindness and good deed in passing along this information.

Best regards,
P

Default shew I feel better

In my opinion, this happens often. Since writing is not done is person, one cannot pick up on a person's original intent easily. Glad it got cleared up. BTW, I agree, PT where never is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day. I have never met PT but love her anyway !!!!! Keep posting!

Had I initiated post that provided useful information that ulitmately benefitted many, many people (200? Wow!) and helped them to save serious dollars, I would be very gratified.

Had I written a subsequent post in that same thread that directly attacked another poster who had NOT first taken a shot at me personally, I would be embarrassed.

Had the person whom I attacked responded with kind words acknowledging my initial post but completely ignored my subsequent insulting posts, I would be ashamed and feel belittled.

And I would apologize.

As ssmith alluded, written words often fail to accurately convey the writer's intonation and connotation.

We all who post and who read posts should be mindful of that.
appreciative.

If I ever infer that a fellow poster personally attacks me, I promise to the TOTV collective
that I will attempt to clarify the comments before I fire back.

Yes, Jim sent me a nice PM. He is new here. Let's all forgive him.

Thank you to my dear TOTV friends who have come to my defense. Your goodwill and kind words are very touching and mean much to me.

Jim: In my view, you earned major props for your initial posting. A very gracious and selfless gesture. Very cool that you did that.

Even more cool that you sent P a pm.

I thank you for the kind words. I think what happened is I didn't get mad at PT personally, I got mad at the mere mention of any thing I thought was negative about TV. I'm new and have just fallen in love with her so I believed I was defending her honor. There have been some other negative things on here lately like'are the services going down?etc, sooooo

It's easy to confuse new folks and in talking about the discount I didn't want them to think going through the Design Center was a bad thing, but rather something that helps them and is a necessity anyway. Hence the reason for the link so they could see for themselves. http://www.thevillages.com/newslette.../home-site.htm

In NC where I live some would consider what happened to me as being tarred and feathered by all her friends on here, I accept it, and will learn from i,t and move on. Ya'll have a good day out there. Jim

Default only 200?

I'm confused...is the discount for anyone that meets with the design team and starts their home before Sept. 30 OR is it limited to the first 200? We are meeting them on Aug. 8 and would like to know if it's too late for us now? Our sales rep has been on vacation, so we can't check with her untill Monday. Thanks.
