Wow - quite a storm today with pouring rains. Is there an "official" rainfall report where you can see the total rainfall from a day like today?

I think the closest official national weather service station is Leesburg Airport.
I also go to the PWS app. You can search stations near you. I have several within half a mile. I live near sawgrass and, according to my rain gauge, we got more than 6 inches since Monday afternoon. |

I have a simple rain gauge that registered 2 1/4 inches yesterday and 3 inches today here in Osceola Hills.

Seems that is the way of Florida. Storms seem very localized. Up in prairie country a storm front can span three states. Down here, five miles seems more the norm.

The good thing is when driving thru these storms they usually end pretty quickly

Gregg.... get a rain gauge and put it in your garden. NOT under any trees or bushes or palms. You can then tell exactly how much rain fell on your lawn. I received 1 1/2 inches yesterday, and turned my sprinkler system off.

Some of you might be looking at my PWS stats. I put in my own PWS system so I have accurate weather data that my sprinkler system uses this data to run in “smart” mode.
Over the last week, some other local PWS data have shown over a 1/2” difference of rain over a 1 mile radius. |
