Default Beef O'Better Be Careful

Had a simple $7 lunch at Beef O'Brady's in Southern Race on 1/24. Charged it on a credit card I use only for gas (forgot I didn't have any cash), so it was easy for me to track purchases. Next day, reviewing my account on-line, I found a $745 charge to BestBuy.com posted on my account. I reported the fraud to the credit card company & Beef's, so I'm just reminding you all to be careful. Check your statements closely.

Do you by chance buy gas at RaceTrack or Kangaroo ? Both of them have been mentioned in the past year for cc security breaches.

Happened to us with a card we only use when travelling - came on a bill 3 mos after our trip! Maybe your info was lifted at a gas station earlier and just not used til now?

I give up. The nasty world is finding us. PLEASE read the thread on trash thief and SHRED all important information. Those lowlifes. I am very sad this morning. I was so insensitive yesterday to a friend I really love. And now all these undeniable bad things.

AND it's cold and it's raining.

I just hijacked another thread, The moddies will now yell a me, again.

Don't worry, Gracie. The sun will be back, your friend will brush it off, and the cc thieves and garbage stealers will be around forever! We can't stop them, just protect ourselves against them, as the OP did by checking his cc statement.

This is not unusual. Many people charge everything on their credit card to build up points for travel, etc.

Wow, talk about shooting the messenger. There's no telling who stole his cc number, but it may very well have been Beef O'Brady's, or someone at a gas station. He's just trying to put a heads-up out there. Not accusing anybody.

We'll I hope he stops back with cash and pays the credit card charges so the restaurant can have some profit any charge under $20 is a loss people wonder why businesses are starting to impose credit card fees

As card fraud increases, I don't like handing my card over to a server in a restaurant to pay for the meal. I prefer to swipe it myself.

I am considering going back to using cash till the new chip and PIN cards become common place.

I also do not like the practice of using of smartphones to swipe cards... whose smartphone is it and what is being collected?

We charge EVERYTHING - allows to keep track of expenses and we earn points - and yes we pay it off every month.

Default Gas Card

I purchase the gas cards from Publix (even when they aren't running the $10 off special). That way if someone has a scanner on the pump, they won't get much and definitely won't get any personal information.

Unfortunately, when people start carrying cash more and more, we can probably look for robberies and/or break-ins to increase.
