Default Today's pet peeves

For the most part, "the developers" have constructed a wonderful community that runs pretty smoothly, but it still takes people doing the right thing to make it work.

#1) rain and thunder has just spread out over Evans Prairie and for a change most golfers headed to the clubhouse. It had rained hard enough that there was some standing water on the fairways. I watch as 7 carts headed up #8, and only one had the common sense/courtesy to ride in the rough, the rest went right up the middle of the fairway leaving mud tracks in their wake. This is completely under the residents' control. So if you are hitting out of a rut tomorrow, don't blame GCM, it was your fellow Villagers

#2) On the "main side roads" , at least south of 466A, there are cart lanes. Specifically I mean Hillsborough Trail, Pinellas Place, Charlotte Court, Ave Marie Avenue, Hendry Drive and Warnock Road. Many homes back up onto these secondary roads, and the landscapers, for convenience, park their pick-ups with trailers in the middle of the cart lane and even partially into the car lane to more easily access the property. There is no reason not to enter the development and park in front, just as they have to do with the rest of the properties they work on. I guess they think it is OK because they put out orange cones, but in reality they are creating a safety hazard. I think we can count on the landscape workers to do the most convenient thing possible, but if you are one of the homeowners who pay them, there is nothing wrong with pointing out that they are obstructing traffic and to ask them to pull in front.

End of rant, feel free to disagree (If you dare)

GE, I like you so you can complain whenever you want. I would like to comment on your 2). Seems like in hillsborough you can't go up any of the roads without having the road blocked by the landscapers and palm tree, custom wood, flooring, etc peeps. They park in the curve so you can't see around them to determine if it's safe to go. I guess there really isn't a good or safe place for them to park.

Golfing eagles: for what its worth some residents and non residents alike seem to take advantage of the diamond lanes both north and south. And yes for some unknown reason many golfers simply do not know or care about the 90 degree rule in good or bad weather

But the most annoying thing for me at this moment is that my brother who is on his way back from our hometown just called me to let me know that he had his fill of Doug's and Lasca's to last him another year

I generally only complain to my wife

But I don't know of any properties that face the roads I listed, just the backs. So these workman can enter the residential streets, just like they have to do for 95% of their work and park in front and not block traffic

I wasn't aware that it was even possible to get much of Doug's and Lasca's

Don't have much to say about the cart lane blockers, except that it's dangerous, especially for the old folk that have a hard time seeing, paying attention, reacting (get the idea?). The numnuts on the courses are another thing; they are the ones with absolutely no common sense regarding fixing divots, repairing ball marks, raking traps, staying off the fairways when soaked with rain/irrigation, staying out of peoples yards, driving too close to the greens with their RA tags (I overheard someone say the other day that he got an RA tag because his "audiologist" filled out the paperwork and submitted it to GMS), driving between traps and the greens with their RA tags, searching/fishing for $0.25 Topflites in tall grasses/ponds and the best one of all - the ones that every time they come to a stop on the cart path (mainly at the tee boxes and greens), they have to pull half their cart off the path onto the grass.

I can't figure out if these types of people are just too ignorant to understand how inconsiderate they are to others...or if they just don't care.

Most likely a mix of both.

They are also the same types that don't bother raking traps, fixing ball marks on the greens, putting a little sand in their divots, trespass on peoples yards to save $.15 used X-Outs or throw their cigarette/cigar butts on the greens and course.

And don't even get me started on all of the ways they could speed up their play...without ever hurrying their actual shots.

These golf balls are getting cheaper by the post. I'm waiting for "looking for free golf balls" next. Bottom line, too lazy or ? to walk from their cart to ball so they pull right next to it. I waiting to see cart stuck in the soft wet spots? . I see some cart in the second cut of the greens. I don't care if you got HC sticker, does 5 feet make that big difference?
