Default LSV Conversion Update

I called the regional DMV office yesterday and they said it would be about the middle of July before the decals are in and they are ready to process conversion requests.

Here is the process tentatively:

Call the DMV regional office (the local offices cannot process the conversion) at 352 732-1267.

They will send you a packet by mail, fax or E-mail including an affidavit to be signed by you that a qualified technician has set the governor on the vehicle to <20 MPH. At this time there is not a requirement for an affidavit from the technician.

Mail the ORIGINAL title, plate and affidavit to the regional DMV office at the address which will be provided along with a check for $40. They will then send you the decal to be permanently mounted on the cart.

Understand all the details have not been finalized and may change from the above. This is to help those wanting to convert and save a run on the local DMV offices who will just give you the above number.

This isn't meant to start a pro/con discussion of the merits of conversion. It's now Florida law.

I'm sure the penalty for excess speed will be =to or >than those for unconverted carts plus the decal will make them readily identifiable to police.

That was a very good and very informative posting. I had heard of the decal but your posting made it clearer.
