Default Speed Bumps

I understand the reason for speed bumps. However, there are speed bumps and there are speed bumps. As an example, at Mallory the speed bumps are jarring and in my opinion are too high. Also the speed bump in the tunnel to the east of the Morse Ave. bridge is very high also. This is just a couple of examples of high speed bumps. On the other hand the speed bumps on the entrance to Bridgeport at Lake Sumter are much lower and not as jarring. My feeling is that the lower speed bumps are just as efficient as the higher ones and stop those drivers who are driving too fast. Anyone else bothered by this?

I don't mind them if I know they're coming and what to expect. I've always liked the Jamaican terminology: The Villages Florida

I agree with you about the huge speed bump by the Virginia starter shack. It is outrageous, and as I am easing over it, I think about Villagers who have recently had surgeries and the like. It has to be very uncomfortable for them. I don't know what one could do about it, but I can comisserate

Agree with you 100%, John. Speed bumps should make you slow down, not force you to come nearly to a stop in order to prevent the cart falling apart around you. I have seen several carts roll backwards while trying to negotiate the Morse tunnel bump.

There are also several gutters which are so deep that they are a menace - especially when crossing the gated entrance to the newish development off 466 (opposite LSL). I was taking this one slowly when another golf cart overtook me!

Would "rumble strips" be better for slowing down traffic? Opinions?

If people would just slow down speed bumps wouldn't be needed!

I haven't been around those areas so haven't experienced those speed bumps. But I do have bumps on my head that slows down my wife when she wants to run her fingers through my hair!
