We are in a veranda and thinking we might move one of these years. Thinking we were limited to a veranda because of our dogs, but then got to wondering - if we were to buy a home with a small pool and a large enough yard, could the birdcage be expanded to include a grassy area for the dogs? Do people do this?

How would you cut the grass?

That would be a little bit of an issue, but doable. Artificial grass might be an option, but that has its own issues.

Easy! Small electric mower with a bag for clippings.

I see one of my neighbors with a dog area in their bird cage you describe. It is irrigated and looks good after two years. I think a small electric lawn mower with bag would work fine.

I've seen a birdcage in a doggie area.

I would do turf, with a sprinkler system to clean the turf every day - not natural grass.

Sort of like an out door pee-pad. I like the idea. My dogs had a sandbox they were trained to.

My neighbors added a dog run to their bird cage for their “constantly” barking dog. They bought an electric lawnmower and weed eater to take care of it.

It was not allowed in my district, zoning required the bird cage to have a finished floor meaning poured concrete or paver brick, gravel flooring or natural grass was not allowed & artificial turf was only allowed for use in a putting green.

Speak to ARC to see if this would be allowed or even feasable.
