OK! Thank you!

Graphic text and video below! Warning stop reading if you want to.

Daisy's owner yelled her name after the coyote picked her up by the neck. Daisy was spared the neck breaking snap and lives!
There had been no previous coyote sightings in this neighborhood. 6 foot fence.

It is true that we all need to take precautions with our pets, but Cmon Kitty, you are scaring folks that have not moved here yet. As far as anyone knows.....no Coyote has jumped over any wall here and taken any pets.
This is bordering on obsession, paranoia, and is getting ridiculous!
From some of the posts, you would think pets are regularly disappearing from our lanais and courtyards. This is not true.
IMHO, scare tactics are unnecessary to make sure we are all watchful of our pets, make sure they are leashed, and don't walk after dark near ponds or remote areas.
Just common sense.

-----------------------------------------------------

Our Deed Restriction states two domestic pets per household.
I was told the reason is that The Villages does not want people breeding pets.
I've heard that the "unofficial" word from the Village Sales Reps is that you can move to The Villages with all your pets.
And then as your pets become old and die, you cannot replace all of them, you must adhere to the two pet maximum.

Default 6 foot leashes.

What to do if you encounter a coyote while walking your dog

Some more pointers about coyotes and common sense. The most important seems to be short leashes.

I really appreciate the work Kitty has done on increasing awareness of the problems especially in the areas of development in the Villages where coyotes homes so to speak have been disturbed. Most of the sightings which show up on her coyote sighting thread are in the new areas of the Villages near CR466A.

Agree. That seemed pretty clear in my original answer to Topspin, so I assumed he was trying to be facetious. And some have said on this forum that some areas have a one pet restriction.

I assumed all Villages had a two-pet per household restriction, but obviously not.
Warren posted that in his Village, there is a one-pet restriction.
