Default Innoculations needed for travel

Has anyone recently received innoculations (shots) for travel to different countries?? Most common shots would be Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B, yellow fever, marilia, typhoid, Polio booster etc.

Where did you get them locally, how expensive, did medicare or other insurance cover any of the cost??

Find a Passport Health office and they can provide everything needed for a trip to anywhere you want to go. They take insurance coverage and provide all needed documentation and prescriptions. They have about 20 locations throughout Florida. Closest is Orlando or Tampa, but if you travel in Florida they might be in a location better for you. Ie Jacksonville, Winter Park, etc.

There is a female doctor that advertises in the Daily Sun a lot that "specializes" in the various shots for travel and other things like shingles, etc. Her office is just across the street north of Home Depot.

Hepatitis B is not needed unless you are planning to receive blood or to exchange body fluids with the locals. Hepatitis A is a two dose series, once in your lifetime so if you have had it in the past, both doses, you are done. Whether you need typhoid depends on where you are going. There are two forms, an oral pill series that will protect you for 5 years or a shot that only lasts 2 years. Yellow fever is only needed for a few countries, however if you are passing thru one of them you will need the shot to enter the next country. There is no shot for malaria, you take an oral med to prevent it. There are several options. Shingles has nothing relation to travel. You should have had a tetanus (with pertussis) vaccine within 10 years. And of course influenza coverage. Which countries need what shots and orals is available on the CDC website.
Destinations | Travelers' Health | CDC Enter the country you are planning to visit for fun information. CDC website is not fully functional due to the government shutdown.
