Default can you get a ticket on the modular path

I recently saw a motorcycle police on the modular path. I did not think you could get a speeding ticket on the path as that is private property - but - someone told me you could. I would have only thought you would get ticketed for not stopping at a stop sign when crossing the road. Has anyone got ticketed on the modular path?

And DUI and anything else which makes you a danger to the people around you... Probably won't get you for having an unlicensed motor vehicle (20+ mph with no tags or insurance).

there have been several threads about this and also articles in the POA. Basically, the Sumter County Sheriff said that there is no POSTED speed limit on the MM paths, so they cant cite you for speeding, HOWEVER, if they observe an activity that they believe is a "violation" (recklessness, driving while impaired, etc), they can cite you. Same as if they observe illegal activity on private property, they have jurisdiction...

Most of the tickets issued to golf carts involve stop sign violations.....

Maybe they are sitting close to the MM paths to catch the speeders on the road? I've seen some of,them "hide" way off the road on Morse and Buena Vista behind trees. You can't see them until it's too late. So maybe they are hiding on the paths to catch people on the main roads. Just a thought.

I have eliminated that concern because I dropped my carts capacity from 27mph to 19.9mph and so the cops can sit on the multi-modal paths all day as far as I am concerned. Go legal and your worries go away.

But the biggest sense of satisfaction is the feeling of responsiblity for the safety of others as well as myself

Golf cart insurance is carried on my cart...again concern for others and myself

I've seen the one deputy on the cycle behind the trees on Buena Vista on occasion clocking motorists. I've observed a real increase in souped up carts on the MM paths these past few weeks. Them passing me I could care less about. It's when they suddenly dart right in front of me causing me to have to brake so no one gets hit that gets me steamed. I drove down Enrique yesterday in the car doing the limit of 25 and was passed by at least 8 carts. Word must be out there's little to no enforcement.

I have asked several sumter county cops and they all say the same thing. Speeding or stop sign-no ticket can be issued. Open container or driving recklessly they have to use their own judgement. Open container it would hard to tell if it was in a cupholder. The question would be if you were on the road and then went on the path and they saw you with a beer can, could they stop you. Probably would i think.
