Canvas on Birdcage
We are planning on adding a birdcage onto our home and are thinking about covering a portion of it with awning material for shade and cover from rain. Considering the sun intensity here does anyone have experience with life expectancy or differences in material? Thanks

We were told by T&D when they built our birdcage that it would void the warranty if we attached canvas to the birdcage framing since it would effect the wind speed rating. They recommended a retractable canvas awning attached to the framing of the home, not the birdcage. We are considering this and would be interested in hearing from anyone who chose that option for a rain and sun free sitting area when desired.

We have the Sunbrella material on top of our bird cage--7 yrs. Absolutely no problems to this point. Needed it to shade the area as our caged area would be unusable during very sunny hot days. Does sun well but in more than light rain we experience misting. Because of birds and pollution there is some staining. Not Cheap !! Think material may need replacement in the next 18 months.

We installed a sun blocking SCREEN in the roof area of the birdcage, we chose 50% blocking but 75% is available. This still allows air flow, some sunlight, and does not void any warranties.
