Default The caper of the moved garbage

I have always posted videos to my youtube channel when there is a mystery to be solved...

Found the garbage under our Honda this morning. Seeing glowing eyeballs made me think of this iconic song.

They were protecting the bag from the elements. Very helpful and kind.

Exactly, he's probably thinking we accidently left some food out and wanted to bring it back to the house.

Opossums are good critters to have around. Immune to rabies and love eating ticks and other pests. Nature's yard cop.

A possum ever see one up close on a dark night? Head looks like a dragon, body like a deformed large rat. I saw one years ago. Pre-Florida. I was surprised that I could run that fast or jump that high.

I hate when I see dead them on road. Most people just run over them like they do snakes. Opossums are nocturnal and when lights shined in they eyes they are confused cause the are blinded. Opossums are actually good for the environment. They are very docile and want to get away for humans if given the chance.

Guy I know lived in a run down single wide. He heard some rooting around one day while watching TV and a Oppossum came in and he started feeding it.

Eventually it started hanging out and going to sleep next to his dogs, who didn't seem to care.

It never made a mess or tore up anything. Could hand feed it and it would crawl up on his lap.

I suspect it was very young and hungry and it's mother had probably been hit by a car when it wandered in.

Would always leave before daylight and eventually stopped coming in.

Not a big deal in The Villages, but no horseman would ever allow them near horses. Opossums are the definitive end host for EPM. It's a neurological disease that often is fatal. I had a wonderful horse affected by it. Cost a lot of heartache and tens of thousands of dollars in treatments. The only good opossum in horse country is a dead one. Simply having droppings in hay or pasture can be the problem.

I had a swimming pool in upstate NY and came out one morning to find a possum clinging to the buoy rope that separated the deep end from the small end of the pool. He was clearly exhausted and had his front and rear paws keeping his head out of the water. I rescued him with my bug net and placed him gently on my lawn. He lay there for a few minutes catching his breath before slowly walking away. He never bothered us nor my dogs but would show up around the pool occasionally at night for a drink.
