A good detail of a car will cost around 150 to 200 dollars.
I also would like to know a qualified detailer in this area. Maybe contacting one of the car clubs might give some results. |

Thanks for the responses! Once I select a Detailer, I'll try to remember to post my experience. I found one detailer that advertises in The Sun and he'll come to your house and, as a bonus, also wax your golf cart. His price was about $100 for a complete detail which isn't much less than I pay back home. I get my car detailed back home and what I've learned is that anyone can claim to be a detailer, but not all "detailers" are good at what they do.

I was very happy with KK. Had some white over spray on my 2011 Serento from a small job and the whole SUV felt like sand paper. I thought I would be impossible to get the car back to the beautiful dark cherry color again. He clay barred the whole car, and it looks like new again. If you put a micro fiber cloth on the hood it slides right off, it's so smooth.
He came to the house to do the detailing and charged $85.00. Worked on it for over 3 hours and I gave him a $100. Both of us were happy. |

I would hope at this price of 150-200 that you are getting a real job done. Not just someone washing and waxing the car spaying armor all on the trim. For 200.00 you should be getting the interior cleaned, the engine compartment cleaned up, the tires and trim done, and the car stripped washed via 2 bucket wash, clayed and a paint cleaner or fine polish done before waxing. heck for 200.00 it should be hit with a machine polisher with at the least a Fine Machine Polish. That is what I would do. The average detail for a quick wash and wax and to touch up interior and all trim on outside should be about 75.00 to 80.00. If it is a truck or large vehicle maybe alittle more. For the most part if you are waxing a vehicle it should be clayed prior to applying a polish and wax. Here is the way to see if your vehicle needs clayed. After it is cleaned, put a plastic sandwich baggie on your hand and gently rub the paint. If it is like rubbing sand paper, needs to be clayed and at the least after claying apply a paint cleaning lotion then wax. Also the most important thing that determines the price of a detail is what you want the car to look like,, I just did one last week, all they wanted was a wash and clean the inside and make it look good, no wax. But the same owner, has a new red camry. It has swirl marks in the paint from the dealer. He wants is completely done,, wants swirl marks out as much as possible, that means using the machine polisher and sometime to hit it. Now your talking money. Not that it uses alot of material, but it is time consuming. So when you are talking detailing, there is more to it than just picking up a hose and washing the car. My 2 cent worth.. Villages Car Wash
I too went to Villages Car Wash and it did not cost 150-200 dollars. It was more like 25-30 dollars/ They did a very nice job and if it wasn't quite up to your expectations, you could do the few little spots they may have missed manually. This would save you mega bucks. I am all about that.

This may sound stupid, but what is "claying"?
