I really don't know, but I have heard that if you put salt on them, they will shrink, dissolve, and die.

You can try Corry's Slug and Snail killer and it does work... for awhile. But, they eventually come back. Kind of a never ending battle.

Hmmm... this post reminded me that I use to have slugs, but none in the past months. I think what's different is that I hired a pest control / fertilizer company to take care of our yard....

Slugs are a favorite food of opossums. We have them around in the Villages. They feed at night. My slug population was out of control a few years back and then one day I saw a baby opossum walking by my lanai and as awoke from my nap and I asked him what he was doing out in the afternoon. Since opossums can’t see that well in daylight he stopped, rose up on two feet, looked at me with squinted eyes and then plopped down on all fours and ambled off. Obviously there were adults around. Anyway, my slug population is way down. I only see a few now. Then again my yard is filled with trees, shrubs, native plants, flowers and wood bark mulch. Having some hiding places available attracts wildlife. So my advice is to get an opossum!

That makes me wonder what a drunk slug looks like.

I first tried beer in a saucer that was semi buried in the ground. They supposedly are attracted to beer and will climb in and drown. At least, that is what the YouTube video said. it sort of worked, but they were always on my walkway when I went out to get the paper in the morning. I eventually went to the dollar store and bought the long grilling tongs and would pick them up and put them into a plastic bag. That bag went out with the garbage. After a week they disappeared. Either I got them all, or they followed their kin which were in the truck heading down the street.

Be careful using beer to trap them.
When drunk, slugs can get quite rowdy, violent, and abusive. That method is not for the faint-hearted! |

Great on the grill. Just don’t over cook them.

Look on YouTube there are a number of sprays and I'm sure YouTube will suggest other ways of getting the job done.
